here, there, everywhere.

1. Seriously, "USPS money order only" for a $40 item?????? c'mon, who cares? (for a gun, totally acceptable or a couple hundred dollar scope, totally acceptable but for some piddly little thing???? thanks for making me spend 30 minutes and 10 bucks worth of gas. )

2. If you put LNIB in your ad, you actually have to have the box.

3. No pictures, no sale. It's not rocket science, it's 2011, LEARN!

4. Sellers who would rather spend $20 in gas to sell a $50 item FTF than eat $3 in shipping to a same state sale. (not a gun obviously)

I'm currently trying to sell a car, but the idiots I've delt with are amazing.

Who on earth allows a total stranger to make payments on a used car? Seriously, the last 3 cars I've sold I'll have some idiot ask about a payment plan (they usually sound like a ghetto rat on the phone or type like this in email: "Yo, U take paymenz?").

People that say "Sure, I'll come by and look at the car at 6pm" and then never show up, never call, never email ... unless its to email two weeks later asking if you still have the car for sale.

Then there's the guy in [insert shit-hole 3rd world country] that honestly thinks you're going to ship the car and the extra cash to his cousin in Florida after he sends you a 3rd party check for twice the amount ... really? That works?

How about lowballing?

Had someone on this site PM about a gun I was selling. Drove 50 miles to save him some $$$ and time. Met him and after he wasted 10 minutes looking at the LNIB gun he offered $100 LESS than we agreed PMing. Mentioned price being too high and "Gunbroker" selling price lower than mine. Pissed, I told him to pound sand and left without sale. He PMed me that night, apologized, and wanted to meet again. Yeah, right. Won't mention his name here but...see him posting fairly often!!!

Dude, why you gotta out me like dat?

Kidding. I wont drive anywhere without an "ill take it.
this implies you are agreeing to the price and package as advertised.

Or when you have "prices firm" clearly in the add and people still want to haggle.

Or when you have "no trades" or "only listed trades" and people want to offer you whatever they have tucked in the back of the closet.

Or when you are discussing the trade of two comparable guns, a glock and an M&P for instance and for whatever reason the other party thinks their gun is worth more used than it sells for new and your gun should go for half price.

USPS MO is a good way to ensure that the money is good immediately. If you pay for something I do not want to sit on it for 10+days waiting for a personal check to clear.

Lesser price items I can tolerate circle K MOs or cashiers checks, but I'm going to the Post Office anyways so one less stop to make before shipping.

Even for my business doing 6 figures a year (totally not gun related) 95% of my money is in checks, I've had 3 checks bounce in 8 years in business, both were made up within a day.

That is no joke right there. I see that often here. I have access to purchase new Glocks through Neve's Police Supply at the LE discount (which is $425 out the door with stock sights & 3 mags), so there is NO WAY I am going to buy a used Glock here for $500. Fortunately I have had great experiences here when I have traded/sold/bought something. [Beer]

Yeah if a seller wants a BOS thats his/her perogative but that is something that HAS to be disclosed in the original thread. I've had something similar to that happen to me recently. Don't set up a meeting with the premise that you are buying an item for sale and then offer less after wasting ten minutes of my time - especially if the item is better than described (by this person's admission). If you want to discuss a lower price, mention that prior to setting up a "I want to buy your ___. When can we meet?". This person was from another site, so I won't post any info on him.

I had a newbie "low ball" me on an item I had listed for sale recently but he was at least polite about it. Asked if I would take (insert low amount here) for my item and I said "no thank you". He replied back and said he understood my not wanting to sell it at his offered price and said he hoped I wasn't offended by his offer. He wasn't trying to low ball me he just really wanted my item and that was all he had to offer. Can't blame a guy for trying to get something he wants can you?

I really hope you call them out on it. The few things I have bought and sold later on I contacted the sellers before hand and told them I would be doing so. But never for more then I bought it for.
Forum rules state you can not poo poo on someones thread. It is a free market? but it still sucks

Yea, but that shouldn't stop you from leaving colorful feedback for them. Its one thing to buy your item full price and attempt to re-sell for higher, but if you spend a week low balling just to re-sell it. Well that's a jerk move.

Whats with the deal with people and trade values. Do you really think that your(already over priced) $500 cash price for your pistol is worth $600 trade.....
IMO the price of it is cash or trade.

Very well put. I see ads stating cash price of $500 and trade value price $650.

No I am not willing to take off $150 on my end because we are doing a cash + trade deal, because at the end of the day your $650 trade value gun is still only worth $500 (if its not over priced already) no matter whether I sell it or trade it later down the road.

If I am going to look at Gunbroker or Colorado Gun Market for pricing, I look at the SOLD listings for the item in question, or buy-now pricing. Like I said before, if I buy a gun from someone, and there is the slightest possibility that they will want it back, I will give them option of first refusal before I post it up, even free sh!t like wheel weights...

Time to time I do use gunbroker to find a price on a firearm. When I quote a price I inlcuded the buy now NEW price, the shipping, and the transfer fee. When somone quotes me a GB price its auction USED price, shipping I guess is free, and they have a friend who does transfers for free...

That seems to be the premise of A LOT of offers lately. Way low but its all I have to offer. Its getting ridiculous.

Not really... some times that is actually the case.
Times are getting tight. So as long as they are polite about it and don't come back a day later with another "only slightly higher" offer, I would say its a credible but low offer. Take it or not.

Seriously, the last 3 cars I've sold I'll have some idiot ask about a payment plan (they usually sound like a ghetto rat on the phone or type like this in email: "Yo, U take paymenz?").

Yes I do - just 1 though.

yeah Im going along with this.

"What da bottom Dolla yo."

as opposed to:

"Hey I know you are asking X, but I can only afford X- right now. I understand if you don't accept."

I am guessing if you did the Byte you would totally get away with it as we all know you fairly well.

Then there's the guy in [insert shit-hole 3rd world country] that honestly thinks you're going to ship the car and the extra cash to his cousin in Florida after he sends you a 3rd party check for twice the amount ... really? That works?

I'm trying to BUY a car, and yea, most of them are 'American' but, bejeesus....

Did you replace the belts on it yet?

'Oh yea, my friend did that'

Uhm, well, do you have his name and number?

Oh, well, he was working at the shop, he gone now.

So, no receipts on servicing the vehicle? No mileage on the BELTS which MUST BE REPLACED EVERY (90,000) MILES OR IT COULD SCREW UP THE VALVES IF IT BREAKS??????[Stooge]

You can take a third worlder out of the third world, but you can't take the ....well, you know......

Like, 5-6 calls.

Yea, the 'white' yuppie guys: Oh, yes, I have ALL the receipts of when the belts, oil change, etc.....

Makes you wanna >>>>>>>>>> a libtard or 12 or ....100...

Hell I don't mind the first one as long as you don't give your critique of my bottom dollar ... call me a thief or idiot or whatever.

If my bottom dollar quote is too high the only acceptable responses are "well my top dollar is X" or "Well, thank you for your time, goodbye".

Another I can't stand to see is:

"No cash price but if you want to buy make an offer. Low ball offers will be ignored."

If you have something for sale put a price on it and if you don't want to be low-balled then put a price on it. This forum does a very well job of keeping up on it unlike others on armslist.

4. Sellers who would rather spend $20 in gas to sell a $50 item FTF than eat $3 in shipping to a same state sale. (not a gun obviously)

Hmm...I can't help thinking this one was directed at me...

Have not read the whole thread so pardon me if this has been said already but DELETE SOLD THREADS, i see alot that just say sold but its just a pia to scroll through a couple page add to see its been sold. Also it would help the mods keep the house cleaning in the trade section down and it would stop any fng from buming 6-8mo old sale ads.
