i purchased this off an old man. marlin no 24. 12 gauge
its beautiful and functionable.

is it legal as it is? or do i need to replace the butt stock?
the barrel is un modified and of legal length. my guess is it was dropped and broken.
is it fine as is? ir do i need to replace butt stock?
please help ar15.
this is a very cool looking antique , and would like to put abit of resto into er[Coffee]

A broken stock isn't illegal. As long as the OAL is 26+", you're good. If its less, then you'll need to throw a new stock on there if you want it to be "legal."

its overall length is just over 30". so that is okay? i would say so

i really want a stock. does anyone know where i can get a replacement?
or one made. this old antique is so cool ,. id like to have engraveing done on er, the old stainless isnt in bad shape

ahhhhhhh numrich, i may root around on the web or have a gunsmith do er,
until then , its a evil dead boom stick[ROFL1]. and i would take offers.
it works well and is clean in and out.

A little time with a dremel or a belt sander and that evil dead boom stick will have life again. Think pistol grip, black powder pistol style.

i like the way ya think lmao. it is a very unique boomstick in the best of condition , considering the age , the stainless has taken on a patina,
but i think i will have a new project.
ive had an offer on it. but not what i wanted [Coffee]

Judging from the location of the "break" I am gonna guess it was intentionally "broken".
A shotgun stock breaks at the wrist typically.
Looks like there is enough there to come up with a PG if you desire. Keep it ol skool!

Keeping as it is, judging by the picture, will defenitly result in a hand full of splinters when fired. At least clean up the rough end by rasping and sanding, then wrap in some leather to keep the old school look.
Otherwise it is a good looking old shotgun.

I would skip the engraving and make the stock into a pistol grip like the one on the shotgun in the movie 'Book of Eli'. That thing is in really nice shape. I've seen a few of those and the all seem to get loose where the barrel and tobe go into the receiver. That one looks like it was loved.

Leather? Old school would be 1/2' black electrical tape. That's Old Skool.
