No-THAT is funny!

I think keyboard commandos are "Badasses" because there typically is no accountability. Hell a 14 yo kid can call out a a genuine badass and never have to put "there money where their mouth is".

Anonymity.

I have thought forums could use a resume feature, a little button to tap that reads off age, previous work, criminal history and such. Might weed out a lot of tough guys if they realize they are arguing with people who know more about a topic.

"God made man, but Samuel Colt made them equal,"

Guns were one of the first equalizers, followed by Karl Friedrich Benz inventing the gasoline automobile. Then followed by John Presper Eckert & John W. Mauchly with the computer.

With a gun, car, or computer it appears to not matter how strong, fast, or tough you are while using them you feel beyond reproach.

Relax bros, I never claimed I was a badass! Just remember: it's not my fault that you suck! Ha, just kidding.

I have to say, I've met several of y'all and really appreciated the times. Good folks on this board and some VERY knowledgeable folks that we don't take enough advantage of. Some said it's always the folks who don't show up for events. I've been to one or two but the times or money always keeps me away. I had a BLAST at that one prairie dog shoot Hoser put on once but I felt like I just wasted everyone's time because I had so many questions I couldn't get answered... I still haven't had a chance to stretch out past 200 much on my rifle... Boo

One day, one day. At least I finally have a job now and can start saving up for stuff, hopefully.

+1 the biggest "badass" I ever met didn't weight more than 100 pounds with boots on yet was the one to tell everyone else "how it was"

They should know that many of us actually know what their MOS is and what it means. Just because you deployed doesn't mean that you saw shit.
I was a Fobbit for a couple years. Glad you could call home or access e-mail when you got back to the FOB. Thankfully I was able to pull whatever little weight a scum bag civilian could pull to correct the situation to restore "COMS" and not let your military leadership take control. Glad I could yell or scream at DISA for you to restore COMS while you were outside the fence to restore your "X"NET so you could protect my chow hall or, perhaps, call in (gods forbid) a medevac or more firepower.
Personally I really didn't see shit. Mostly heard. Hard to see rockets coming at you in the dark. Never saw combat, hope never to see combat. But I do know the sound of a rocket flying over my head or a mortar hitting close. And bullets. Those are always fun to hear hit near your head.

Sorry if I sound upset but so tired of people thinking us civilians sat on our backsides and jerked off all day. I was one of the few people fighting your Captain, Major and up to Col to keep COM lines open, functioning so people like you could have phone lines and Internet service when you came back to the FOB to call home/email.

Sure would be nice if there was a sticky that us older guns (very mature guys) could check to see what the hell all these modern abbreviations really mean. When I see FOBBIT, FOB, COMS, DISA, XNET, DFAC I realize that I am really behind the times. Only one that I recognize is MOS and that's only because I had earned one of those while in the U.S. Army MANY MANY years ago.[Help]

I now wonder if some "youngster" is going to suggest that I just go back to my recliner and take a nap and not be so concerned about all this modern shit (terminology).

4 of those apply to your time or a couple were a little later. Every era had it's own acronyms for the same thing. FOBBIT was a REMF in my day. FOB was a fire base and FOB was in use. COMS are communications, DISA and XNET are for the Computer side of things that drive the current Military and DFAC you know as the Chow hall.[Coffee]

I'm almost 30, 28 still, and I have been punched in the face a bunch, I was a dumb kid, and I mean DUMB. My wife thinks I'm awful polite now, hell check my feed back (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16088), you can see, people agree, all those beatings made me the man I am today. I made the "punched in the face" comment only partially in jest. There is a large and growing segment of the population that has never been forced to learn that there are consequences for the words they choose to speak. They think "freedom of speech" means they can run their mouth with impunity.

Stop holding people accountable and this is where it goes, and I don't think we're anywhere near the bottom yet. This kind of thing is going to get worse before it gets better.

Ran across this on another forum:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14898564

Seems to be a little extreme to me.

No First Amendment rights in the UK. Legally the Queen owns all her subjects and all the land. Some really stupid jurisprudence applied to her subjects too. You can get four years prison in the United Kingdom for a crime, that in the US won't even get you arrested. One guy took a bottle of water and was sentenced to prison. British taxpayers are thrilled over this, I am sure!
