They like brush piles. Hides them for hunting mice and such.
More activity on the land the less they will like it.

Clear brush
get more goats
get some cats(they'll hunt the mice that the snakes feed off of)

Get snake away, its a powder they sell at most hardware stores. Garlic powder works also. Man I caught a few bull snakes this year that could have helped you.

Also water during the hot months will attract them. We found many when I was a kid in NM this way. Also I was bit the day before Halloween so don't get cocky if it gets cold.
The little ones cannot control their venom either so be really careful.

I almost looks like a prarie snake, they imitate rs behavior to survive. Then again a rattler that small wouldn't have a rattle yet. Just to be safe always assume rattler lol. I need a better head shot to tell.

It looks identical to a prarie snake

Has 2 buttons, I heard it could be a Midget Faded RS, but I thought it looked like a Prairie RS. I'll get some better head shots.

I threw the bigger one out of the garage, and it came at me. So I shot him. They are mean, and have a weird rattle sound

Tauras judge! My buddy lives on "rattlesnake hill" out by hbarleatherneck and after several years he is finally getting the population down. If you can find the dens you can cut them down quick.

I seen one at like 9k feet about 5 years ago archery hunting. It was a cold foggy morning and I stepped out of the truck and stepped on it, was like 5am.

WOW 9K. That is pretty high. Didn't think you would ever see any that high. nights just get to cold up at that Altitude. I guess you never can tell.

That's what we thought. Now I watch for them everywhere even later in the fall. This was like mid september when that happened.

Water always attracted them up in Wyoming growing up. Even though we lived right on the N Platte, they would congregate by our well pits near the river. Little bastards were swarming and swimming in one of the pits one year when our pump went out. That wasn't a lot of fun getting them all out before I got in the pit to replace the pump! I think there were about 10 little ones in there, if I recall correctly. Aggressive little shits too!

We used to call the short guys with "squared" off diamonds Timber Rattlers. They are more poisonous than Diamondback and larger RSs.

9k is pretty high for rattlin' snakes.

I thought 7,100 ft is pretty high, but I also thought they would be hiding cause its cold. I need to find them all and kill them. Was going to try and catch some Bull Snakes and bring them over.

Rattle snakes are like salmon. They return to the same nest to reproduce.

I need to find that thing and destroy it, or let my attack goat do it.

Given a choice, if I had the misfortune of being bitten, I'll take a 7' rattlesnake over a juvenile one any day! -the little ones are too potent.

I was going to build a little pond and get some Geese and G.Hens. Or some fixed bard cats.

I wish I would have know, caught a couple bullsnakes at my dads a couple weeks ago. both over 6'. would have been good for the rattlesnake population[Muaha]
