View Full Version : CAI gp 1975 parts
The bolt is really loose in the carrier on my GP 1975 Bullpup, I have got the action really smooth but it still will not hand cycle the rounds all the time, it is alot better now that I have replaced the extractor but still not like my wasr10. I heard GP 1975 Ak47 Rifles do not hand cycle very good, is there any truth to this? I have not fired it since I did the work to it. Were is a good place to get a new bolt and how do I know it is going to fit? Thanks for your input and have a nice day.

Apex has virgin polish bolts, they more than likely will have too tight of a headspace requiring hand filing the lugs on the bolt to set headspace (like mow the milled receiver ak47's came from the factory) but another thing to try first is to file with jewelers files the bottom front of the bolt carrier where the bolt stem passes through, if you make the part that the hammer rides against a smoother transition as from the factory it can be lumpy so to say, that will make your action smooth up dramatically. If you want I'll post a picture of the area I'm taking about

if not Apex contact brycomwin he had a few bolts 4 sale.
I have read alot of different threads on the same thing. Other GP1975 AK's doing exactly what mine is doing, wont hand cycle but will shoot fine. Now I have not tried to fire mine since I have worked on it but it still will not go into battery all the time even when I let it slam home, almost like something is hanging up I checked for traces of something rubbing but all is well. I have had it hand cycle almost a whole mag after working on it but mostly just leaves the round on top of the mag. I am wondering since the bolt is so loose in the carrier if it is hitting the the bottom of the front trunnion, or if that is even possible.

remind me, when it is failing to go into battery is that a feeding failure or does the bolt not fully rotate? if the bolt doesnt fully rotate then did you check the headspace?

Atrain- not to minimize your efforts but I really think you are in over your head on this one. If you do not fully understand the components, the interaction of the components, timing, headspace and cycling STOP!
Get with Jreifsch80, Jim or somebody who intimately knows the AK system to look it over for you.
