Hey guys. Hope I don't sound silly here but would like some info. I am pretty new to this forum but was wondering about these competitions that I keep seeing popping up all over on these forums. I have shot many guns for many years and have never looked into them. Can anyone give me more info? I don't know the first thing about them, how to get involved with them, what is required, or anything. Would appreciate any direction that anyone can give.
Thanks guys!!

Your best bet is to go to the Front Range IDPA website.

This will probably answer most your questions regarding IDPA. As far as other matches in the area, other people here who shoot more than IDPA (USPCA, IPSC, 3-gun, etc) will have more info than me. Hope this helps.

There rare only a couple of IDPA matches in CO. Te largest is the one out at Clear Creek Gun Range in Dumont, CO.
There is a plethora of USPSA matches on the front range (www.ecouspsa.com), but I have very little info on the west side matches. I know ere are one or two, but not as many as on the front range. There are also various 3 gun and rifle matches up and down the front range. I haven't heard of any 3 gun or rifle matchs on the west side, but I know there are some rifle matches around your area.
Your best be it to check out the web sites of the larger private ranges in your area. They typically list what matches are available and when they run.
The main web sites for the various governing bodies of competitions are the best place to find out what the rules are for each type of competitive shooting.
Don't bother looking at IPSC, the USPSA org is the US wing of IPSC.
3 gun matches are predominantly "outlaw" matches, no governing body over them, they are all pretty close to each other in rules. They seem to work better this way.
Hope this helps some.
