View Full Version : Funny story
When I was a kid I spent alot of time with my uncle he was like a father to me, I used to live with him. Were we lived was kind of in the country and I had 3 uncles that lived next to each other, one across the street and the other 2 next to each other which is were I stayed. My uncle that I lived with (Marine) took off dont know were he went, my other uncle thought it to be a good idea to give me a BB Rifle. I played with the Rifle a bit then got the idea, I perched myself up on my uncles shed who lived next door and not like now days were you can spit and hit your neighbors house, these houses were far apart. So I am waiting in the hot sun on top of my uncles shed for my other uncle to come back, a couple hours in there he is pulling up Bam I take my shot aiming for his head WHY I DONT KNOW, I miss and hit his truck on the pillar by the windshield, my uncle looked right at me knew exactly were I was, and yelled your dead when I catch you.
Sir, have you been drinking tonight?

I'm not seeing the funny...
see below for funny:
A young blonde was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana. She wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.
After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the blonde shouted, "Maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes at a reasonable price!"
The shopkeeper said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you'll luck out and catch yourself a big one!"
Determined, the blonde turned and headed for the swamps, set on catching herself an alligator. Later in the day, the shopkeeper is driving home, when he spots the young woman standing waist deep in the water, shotgun in hand. Just then, he sees a huge 9 foot alligator swimming quickly toward her.
She takes aim, kills the creature and with a great deal of effort hauls it on to the swamp bank. Lying nearby were several more of the dead creatures. The shopkeeper watches in amazement.
Just then the blonde flips the alligator on its back, and frustrated, shouts out, "Dang it, this one isn't wearing any shoes either!"

That looks like standard, sober Atrain1 to me.

That looks like standard, sober Atrain1 to me. Actually I talked about him in another post about working with him when I was younger, and it is one of my memories as he is no longer with us. The point to it is dont shoot at an ex Marine and NRA fanatic, I learned a painful gun lesson.

I still don't get it.[Neene2]
I dont understand things sometimes every one I have told that story to thought it was funny, I guess it is a little better being told in person with all the details, but I did not want to take up a page just telling a story that I thought some would get a kick out of. If you guys dont like it then dont read it. I think I am one of the only members on here that does not go around and put a bunch of negative remarks on every post. I learned alot from taking that shot at my uncle,First off dont shoot at a Marine and dont point a gun at a 20 year NRA member. He got me into guns after that and taught me gun safety and got me started on how to use them, that was the last time I ever pointed a gun at someone, but it was well worth the knowledge I received from him.
Oh! I'm laughing now [ROFL1][ROFL1][ROFL1][ROFL1]
Is it still funny after someone has explained the joke?
Would someone like to explain what is funny? [Stooge]

I learned not to point a weapon at anyone at 6 years old with my first BB gun...
I Just kinda assumed then that shooting at someone was equally stupid.

You mean other than the fact we are all stupid, he can out-shoot any of us, He regularly snipes pop cans with his .45ACP 1911 at 250 yards with absolute perfection, ALL of his guns are better than anything we have and that I don't believe he has started a single thread that didn't somehow place him at the center of the universe...
OH, and if your opinon differs from his, you are an idiot... because everyone knows that an Iver Johnson is the fucking shiznit.
[Bang]
So other than being a overbearing blowhard and braggart that regularly spouts impossible crap and then consistently backs out of backing it up... nothing.

That is interesting i dont recall saying anyone was stupid I try not to be negative, the only IJ I own is an old 38 so I dont know were that came from, I shot a pop can once with a 1911 and it was not a 45 and it was 100+ yards away it was a milk jug I hit with my tok at 200 yrds and I have never said all of my guns are better than yours. And I am out at the Pawnee Grass Lands all the time, anyone is more than welcome to show me up I like a good challenge if one can be presented. And when did I ever say I do not miss, I miss shots all the time at that distance. Your problem is you like to put words in other peoples mouths, like I said before just cause you cant do it does not mean the next guy cant, I said out of every one I know no one can out shoot me and that does include some LEO's but that is people I know.

Thank you. I dont like to be a dick man but everything I post gets pissed on, I just posted a stupid story about a really stupid thing I did as a kid and look what it turned into. My Uncle was a great man and the way he went out was a way no man should go, as I said earlier he was like a father to me and taught me alot about guns and shooting and my goal was to beat him, so I practiced alot but never did get the chance to go up against him, I do know that he would have a great respect for what I can do with a gun if he was still alive.

What really kicked it into high gear for me was Atrainwreck's post when motorcycles were being discussed, and he responded to a no-issue post from BPTactical by telling him- "I forgot more than you'll ever know", about Harleys I think. I'm pretty sure that he has never met or spoken to Bert, so beyond having the bollocks to post that, he has no basis for the statement. Besides that, I think Bert is a pretty popular guy here. So I think it's all about the "I'm better than you attitude", which comes across on most of his posts longer than a line. How you can hit the broad side of a barn with those crap guns is beyond me. Just kidding.

We are all good here Atrain.[Beer]
I for one don't harbor any animosity whatsoever and typically if I do retort it is in good humor albeit sarcastic, but not malicious.
That is the one thing we all must check ourselves on. Bantering back and forth is one thing but when it deteriorates to swearing at each other and such it becomes malicious.
Atrain, the only thing your guilty of in my eyes is the curse of the poison pen. I think we all get the gist of what you are putting across but sometimes you have a way of putting it half a bubble left of plumb. Sometimes it comes across as a bit of extravagances to sometimes full blown BS.
No need to try and impress anybody here, we all have our strengths and our weaknesses.
Just be yourself man.

Just be yourself man. I was going to put up a post, there has not been very many people that understand some of the things I say. I have never really been very good at getting what I want to say out in the right words, it is right in my head but when it comes out it is completely different from what I wanted to say, I dont know why and I have just learned to live with it. So if I have offended anyone I apologize. Like you I do not hold a grudge I am on here to talk guns buy guns and do anything else you can with guns, I am not on here to say I am better than anyone cause frankly I dont know any of you guys from Adam. I am definitely not here to make Enemies in the gun world, and no I dont need a hug I just wanted to put out an Apology. Thanks for your time.

Taking a chance here. I don't think Train has a super grasp of the printed word. No offense intended here. There are subtle nuances to any language. There can be a subtle difference between sarcasm & criticism(sp?). Sometimes Train just doesn't get it. I have no actual axe to grind, and..........maybe enough said. I'm still perfectly willing to say that if he is as good a long-distance pistol shooter as he says he is, I'd like some pointers. Combat distance? I'll bring a $20 (cheap but I'm laid off) to Firing Line tomorrow that I can out-shoot him at that range. See some of you guys tomorrow at Firing Line. [Beer]
This is one of the great things about shooting. I think we are on our way to getting a 65 yard silhouette match set up at Pawnee on the 24th. Best shot gets bragging rights.
Yes, poor shooters will be ragged on, but that's OK. Most of us don't know each other real well and many of us have never been out shooting together, so who knows what will happen. Not to mention, everyone has their good days and bad days.
We all like guns ( I hope). Most of us like to shoot [ROFL1] Why not meet up and put some lead down range?
At the end of the day, we still won't know what we would do if we find ourselves across the street and down the block from a nut case at the IHOP, and I hope none of us ever has to find out. But we will have a better idea of what it is really like to draw and fire, from our EDC rig out to a distance that most of us would not regularly choose to practice.
I hope many of you can make it. I'm looking forward to poking some holes in paper. [Beer]

[Beer] That is the only place I really shoot, and the range in Nunn, that is a sunday I should be able to make it, I was going to go out today and try out my new carbine but I have been in bed since I got off work with the worse stomach pain I have ever had, I had it all day at work to. I wont get into the blood when I go #2. It is getting better so I hope I will be out there tomorrow.

September 24, 2011, is a Saturday, one week from today. I would assume we would start by 9:00 AM, however whatever works best for the group is fine by me.
Is this a private range, public range, or public land you are talking about? I see that Great Guns Sporting range is located in Nunn.
If we are going to shoot at an established range, someone needs to talk to the management about what they will and will not allow. Also there will be some type of cost involved. We would need to know that as well.
I was thinking of shooting on public land in Pawnee as that makes the cost more affordable for everyone.
Thoughts? Anyone?

No pawnee is fine I was just saying those are the 2 places I shoot Great Guns does not really have any restrictions and they go out as far as 300 yards I think, I know the first Rifle range does not have a place for targets until you get to the 200 yard line. I think the pistol has 50 75 and up I cant remember.
For anyone interested, here is a link to the informal match. I'd like to see how many people are interested.
