I'm the guy that sticks to a phone every 5 years, but I got hurt last year and was basically in bed for a couple months.. The wife talked me into a smar phone. Got the htc evo so that I could browse (and post lol) from one device...
This thing is epic... I love smart phones now...

Welcome to the fold.
I've had my Droid X for a year and half now and have been very happy with it. I was going through phones like Heff goes through girls before I got this phone but it's been great.
One should post specs of their new phone because the brand name isn't very descriptive.
Screen size
OS version
Processor speed
Internal Memory and Ram (Separate things)
What size SD card it came with and what SD you are putting in it.
I love smart phones too.
Mine is cricket so unlimited everything for $60.
Sanyo Zio
4" screen
Came with Android 1.6 but was update after 6 months! To Droid 2.2.1
Easily rooted so I can make it a hot spot over clock it and some other cool stuff like adding ROMs.
600 mhz overclocked to 700 mhz.
Internal memory is horrible at 128 mb and external storage 16 gb sd card.
ETA:
Its thin at 9mm thick. Its bigger than my last phone but smaller then some of the tablet phones being sold now-a-days.

I have the original Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-T959ZKATMB-features) from T-Mobile.
Smart phones are too smart for me!
Im waiting to see how the Hercules stacks up to the upcoming iPhone.
Is it me or have the iphone's run out of steam?

Its the phone. Droid is where its at.
I did not think that phone was out yet
tons of people follow the iphone and more and more people are swapping over to all apple. I don't want to pay that kind of money for all of it, but to each is own.
I have the droid X as does my wife. greatest phones ever! mostly because the verizon network...much better than AT&T, at least consistently all over the country.
I don't know how I managed without a smartphone. absolutely amazing what you can do with them now.
I'd love to have one.
service plans cost too bloody much.
My phone isn't totally smart but is a bit more intelligent than most of the other kids. It is my second Blackberry. I think I might check into something with the android operating system in a couple of months just so I can play that stupid bird game. [Coffee]
(just kidding about the bird game. But I will be looking at other phones soon.)

My iPhone 3G crapped out on me a couple months ago. Had it since they first came out, so it was kinda old as far as technology goes. Became super slow when doing anything, especially the "smart" stuff like GPS, and eventually stopped taking a charge. Replaced the battery, the connector for the plug, etc. and nothing helped it.
Now I'm using an old brick my buddy had laying around... gonna eventually get another iPhone to replace it.

Nice breakdown of your phone. Its like a list of need it, need it, got it, need it.
I'd love to have one.
service plans cost too bloody much.
This, and the battery doesn't last worth a shit. Why would I want to pay even MORE money a month, for a phone that holds a battery charge for about as long as an episode of Robot Chicken before it needs to be charged again?

I just want a phone that has service, thats part of living in the sticks
I have an iPhone 3GS. The music apps I have and use are not on the droid system. The smart features are great but the actual phone part I'm not impressed with. I get several drops on calls through ATT. My wife has a regular 3G. It sucks.

That only happens when you leave your 4G or 20 applications running or you dont use any power saving options. Its just like a laptop, if I leave the screen on at 100% brightness with Crysis going, its not going to last long either.
Ordered mine today how do you like it so far

I might have an old Iphone laying around the office in a box if you'd like me to check.. I'm sure of it infact.. I can't promise it works but you're welcome to it if you'd like to see..
I have a few droids w/ broken screens.. don't think they can be home repaired like an Iphone though.. but you're welcome to em!

I got a Samsung Exhibit, and I really love it so far. Originally I wanted one that would slide with an actual keyboard, but I'm really liking the touch screen version. I like the Swipe feature, and it also does voice type for text, which is a nice feature too.

There is no doubt there is some sort of self destruct thing built into them. My wife's did the same thing about the same time. Her old iPhone has become basically useless. She didn't download, install or otherwise make any changes to it, it just basically slowed down to a mere stop...how convenient, right when a new one comes out.
I have a Nokia from like 2004 that still work flawlessly. It plays great music, has a big SD card, takes decent pictures and everything. It's not my primary phone (that's a work issued Droid that I hate) but it's a great secondary cell.

lol I like the comparison. The battery life does suck. When I got my first smart phone I couldn't get through the day without a charge. I have the Evo 3D now and its battery life is decent as a phone. Unfortunately if you want to play games for more than 15 minutes or watch a movie, you're probably not going to be getting through the day without charging.
