I can already hear all the traditional AK owners, screaming in pain. Well, I have a tactical background, so although I think the wood furniture looks nice, I wanted something for CQB, better suited for home defense, and maybe the next asset/executive protection gig.

I started with a Polish Underfolder, changed the handguards to a Tapco Intrafuse Quad, mounted an EoTech 512 to the upper rail, and a Tapco "stubby" vertical grip with storage to the bottom rail. I then dremeled the bottom cover to fit back on the bottom rail with the vertical grip. Right at the thumb break I mounted an offset tactical flashlight mount with a 130 lumens Streamlight LED Poly Tac. Internally I added a COI AK buffer, and finished it off for now with a Hogue Rubber Grip with Finger Grooves.

Future additions may include a compact muzzle brake and a DuraCoat re-finish in FDE, Coyote or Matte Black. The right side rail is currently covered with a ladder, but possibly a compact green laser would work there too.

With me, form always follows function, so this set up allows for EZ 30rd tactical mag changes, as well as full locking of the underfolder in both positions. The original rear sling loop works great with a single point rig. Clearing rooms, or OTM in a vehicle, I think this will fit the bill quite nicely.

Nice. I like the way the stock folds around the vertical grip.

Isn't it too front heavy?

I'm a traditionalist in otherwords a fan of wood and bakelite but I love it :) makes me want to tacticalize my polish underfolder as well :)

So the stubby grip will clear the stock? And problems with the mag? It looks good, I think mine looks a little to plain

How do you like the sight being so far up? I have been considering an optic for my AK but it just seems like it would be weird with the actual optic so far up. I know I could always just get the side rail, but I hate the way they look.

Not at all. Most of the weight of the EoTech is towards the center where the vertical grip is. The hand guards are very light composite too. With a loaded mag, I don't think it would even be noticeable.

Yeah, as long as you position it close to the 30rd mag, it will clear both easy and still lock. The mag changes fine, too.

The EoTech with unlimited eye relief works perfectly there. Great for use too with the stock folded!

Looking to sell it minus the 512 and flashlight set up to start a new build:

Still NIB with paperwork. Asking price is cheaper than actual build cost!

Looking to sell it...

Damn, that didn't take long. It is a great looking AK.

Yeah, I build em, then sell em. Then I build another. That's how I pass the time.
