Hello...

Looking to get into long-range match sometime in the near future but had trouble locating any ranges around the Estes area that'll support 700-1000 yd. Any suggestions? Willing to travel but was hoping for something "sort" of close.

For target shooting that far? Good luck. There's way too many residences scattered all over the hills up there. It's hard enough to find a place for short-range shooting right into a dirt bank. For 1000 yard work you'll have to do some driving.

Kind of figured as much... saw some ranges out east in the flats but that's a bit of a drive from here : (

All good... will find something somewhere eventually lol. Thx for the reply

head into the national forest with a good map and scope out a spot. You will more than likely need a decent 4x4. A lot of the roads in the NF open up at some point into a praire where at least 500yds would be possible.

Thx for the idea... I'll try and research that out a bit, see if I can figure out some good areas that might lend to long range. Not too familiar with the terrain up here but might be some good spots. The area I live in definitely has some wide valleys between the mountains. Not sure whether shooting between hills like that is frowned upon. Might consider asking the forest svs about it beforehand. Appreciate the tip tho!

That's probably a good idea, ask the Forest Service or the Rangers. Explain what you're wanting to do, and maybe they'll point you to a place. That's GOT to be preferable to just letting people go out and get after it. Worth a try.
