Information about this gun....

So, this gun was given to buy my grandfather a couple months before he passed away. I don't know much about it and where he got it from. I obviously know its an sks 7.62x39 ammunition. But is there any significance or added value being that it has chinese lettering on it? When I was in an unnamed gun shop they wanted be to bring it in. They were very 'interested' in the chinese sks. I am also curious to know the approximate value, I of course would not sell it but I would like to know what it is worth, Anyways thanks for looking and thanks for the information!

Basic Norinco Simonov Karbine.
Just a SWAG on price but 400ish is what they seem to bring these days.
Not imported anymore so only a finite number exist.

The numbers in the triangle look like 316, That is the factory where it was made. Numbers on the stock do not match the numbers on the receiver. Less value. See if the #'s on the bolt, bolt carrier, and cover match. Mismatched sks's start about $225 around here. A lot of fun to shoot. More info here. http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php

1512038. So yes indeed they match. Thank you both for the insight. I am definitely excited about getting it cleaned up and shoot it. My grandpa killed a couple white tail does in south east Kansas with this rifle.

Cool the #'s match. Didn't catch the cut off ones in the pic. I think the earlier guns had the sling mount on the side of the stock. Make sure the firing pin is free floating or you can get full auto!

what ever the market will bear. The norincos came in different variety's
1) stamped trigger group, threaded bbl
2) stamped trigger group, pinned bbl
3) milled (one piece) TG, threaded bbl

4) Carbine version with the same features as the 20"ish bbl did.

I've had people say you should stay away from the stamped TG, pinned bbl ones. While shooting their Pinned bbl, stamped, home made Ak?? Sure thanks for the advice Bro.
I have owned many different ones, they all do the same thing, operate the same way.
Yes make sure the firing pin "rattles" around / moves freely prior to shooting. If it does not disassemble and clean out the FP channel as cosmoline is notorious for being gummed up in there. Stay away from those aftermarket 30rounds mags, hit or miss
