Nothing today yet. At all. Pocket pool and surfing the interwebs for something to keep me awake. Two cars in the shop and not one in my bay. There is not enough work at this shop for 2 good techs much less the three that were here and then hiring me.

Did an oil change and now I am home for the rest of the day. Fun fun fun fun fun.
Glad I got out of the auto repair business when I did. I imagine the money you made off the oil change (.3 ?) didn't even cover your gas to get to and from work. Hopefully it will pick up a bit after Christmas.

Nope. Not to mention factor in food. An oil change isn't even worth getting my tools dirty for quite honestly.
The only way to make any real money at this any more is to do it for yourself, which I would like to do.

This is why I stay in parts.
I can sympathize! Sort of...
Issued one policy today, but have been working on it for about 2 weeks. Only policy I've issued this week. Business is slow though, and I hear the economic climate isn't going to change anytime soon. [Bang] Why did everyone have to be so sick of the repubs in '08... this never would have happened if Charlie Sheen was president! [LOL]

At least you guys have jobs, be happy. I just forund out I will be getting layed off Oct 17th. With a joke of a severance package, might as well just be a swift kick in the balls.

Looking for a little side work ?
I might be interested.
I was meaning more open my own shop. I have now worked at every level of the industry. From tire buster all the way up to managing a shop. The only thing I have not done is own my own. And at this point it is that or get out and figure something else to do.

After 2 POS tech jobs in 04 I sold my tools and said screw it. Never looked back after 9 years of being a GM driveability tech (4 years as an auto transmission tech). I made more off selling my tools then I would have made working at a shop another year. What a difference from Las Vegas in the late 90's early 2k!
