I'm going to be buying an upper kit from Del-Ton soon, which will be mated with a Spike's Tactical lower. Any advice on assembling the lower without screwing anything up? Also, what's a good FFL dealer around the Springs that has a reasonable transfer fee? I have yet to find anywhere local that can beat the $80 price tag for the stripped lower online.

Thanks

Any advice on assembling the lower without screwing anything up?

I recently built my first AR using a Del-Ton kit and a Spikes lower.

Take your time and watch a couple videos to make sure you have the steps down. After that, tape everything up and be mindful of your punches as you use them to prevent scratching your lower. Other than that, it's pretty simple. You'll probably have to find a detent or two as they go flying easy.

I had no prior experience with an AR before I built mine.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I've always wanted to build an AR, but until now I had no income to support it.

Just finished my 1st. Lower is not hard. Clean work bench , vice , and a receiver block to hook the vice to the lower. Can't tell ya how important those items were for me!
Have a laptop on the bench with you and stream the how to vid while going the steps. Makes it a breeze. Take it slow and don't rush any steps. That way you are less likely to scratch up your project.

Assembly is not hard at all...

On all my builds I watch brownell's videos, they are very step-by step. If you are worried about launching the take down pin detent you can always assemble it in the shower with the drain covered.

LOL

Take your time in assembly... you should be good.

If you are worried about the punches scratching your parts... just use some masking tape.
