So, sitting here packing for tomorrow's hunt (pronghorn, wyoming) and thinking there are sooooooooooooo many choices.

open carry or concealed carry?

revolver or pistol?

if revolver, .38spl or .45ACP?

if pistol
.380 (yeah, ok, not for open carry), 9mil, .45acp?

and then which platform?
1911, glock? others?

and if 1911, then full size or commander? officer frame or full frame?

SOOOOOO many choices.

It's like going to the chinese restaurant with 300 menu items, you just get overwhelmed and choose sesame chicken, like always.

I think I have decided on open carry though, it's just easier when you're fat. [Pepsi]

Hanging out in the woods...open carry, full size 1911. Accept no substitute.

I can see the appeal of going with a commander or officer commander, though. A tiny bit less weight & almost the same stopping power. Of course, I have dainty hands, so they're a little more my size, too.

All Glocks, all 9mm..... except for perhaps a Glock in 10mm [Beer]

I've never hung out in the woods when I was antelope hunting. With that being said, I think you should carry whichever holster matches your shoes. With the approriate gun in said holster.

Definitely no woods in Wyoming. I've never felt the need for a sidearm when hunting speed-goats on the open plains. The primary rifle and a good knife are all you really need.

Note- I do realize any opportunity to open carry can hardly be passed up. So if you must carry, then definitely do it with some style and make sure the holster matches the shoes. [Coffee]

Given the fact I, too, have dainty hands as does another member commenting here and the fact I do not have a full-size .45, I don't think I'm adequately qualified to provide an informed opinion in that regard. However, I can echo the three other members in the fact that everyone knows that "accessories make the man". If you go so far as fragrances, also remember to "spray, delay, and walk away." [Luck]

Not a whole lot substantial in that one - comic relief only (just don't publicly acknowledge it if you know what that last sentence means). [Stooge]

well
decided to go with a .45ACP commander (Colt series 80 to be exact)

mostly because I'm just a commander kind of guy. (I realized I only own one full size 1911, I believe I might have a problem with that hole in my collection)

Exactly. In the woods in WY...I'll take a nice N-frame S&W .44Mag.

That'd be my choice...revolver in no less than .357 mag...usually .45LC though.

Just picked up a 329PD for that reason. Guess I couldn't agree more.

The second part of your question is the easiest....

What do you see when you open your toolbox?

You dont see ONE wrench and ONE screwdriver.

You see an assortment of tools, different tools with a specific purpose,

Guns are no different. They are simply tools.

I have different jobs for my tools. I cant drive a nail with a allen wrench. Same thing with guns.

Exactly... I gotta call "sissy" on this list. There might even be a legitimate man-card violation here. [Tooth]
