Wanting help in building a Polish Underfolder AK.

My buddy and I are looking to build our first AK47. It's a polish under folder kit. We have the receiver, barrel, etc. The only thing I don't have is an actual AK rivet set. Advice on where to get that would be great too.

He's a mechanic, so he's great with tools and mechanical things, whereas I'm just a gun nut who is trying to get into this ball game.

We're both stand up guys, conservative, respectful and all of those great things, and would love some help and guidance.

We're looking for someone who has the tools and time to help us out. I'll buy you a 12 pack of whatever you like, and/or my wife can make you cupcakes!

Any help/advice/direction would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to venture up north, I have most of the tools and knowledge and if I dont' have the tool, then my neighbor who you've already seem to have met(Jim) will have it or another guy about 10 minutes from, will most certainly have it. In fact I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in this thread yet......Justin were are you??? [Tooth]

Once you get one under your belt then they are no problem. The first one always takes a little bit of guidance from someone who has done them before.

Come on up and we can get you started in the right direction, we can rivet some trunnions install some barrels and maybe I can find the will power to finish some of mine that are waiting to be riveted. [Coffee]

i'm thinking on mid october, depending how the leg holds up. Have a Draco-C i want to put a stock and 4" f/hider on for shitz & giggles. then do sbr paperwork . ATf say's it is OK.

Anyway it wouldn't be a problem (if everything goes well) to build it at a bauild day.between brycom and I we've done enough virgin barrel builds to be able to pretend we know what we're doing haha. As far as rivets you could get a set from ak-builder.com or just use my bulk rivets

Funny you say that, I was going through the dungeon the other day and I realized I have enough parts for an ak build and 2 g3's (just need one more g3 barrel) haha

Actually I don't any more, I traded a romy gas block for a cast polish late model that I'll be using for a clone build. I need to order some small parts from apex anyway, want me to get you a cheap akm gas block? Or maybe we should see if there's a random parts bag at bargin finder that has stuff we'd both need and split it.

Anyway I got my 74u llc east german 74 receiver, just need to have my barrel cleaned up (jim?) And I'll be ready to build my mpi-aks-74nk clone.

The blast cabinet is up and running, maybe punch some holes for the side folder on the newset acquisition, Justin do you have metric reamers to open this f/hider i'm getting?

Yeah for a gas block but I put in my order 74 rsb, 74 bulgy side rail, and a hg retainer I totally forgot about the gas block but I have a romy you can use cause I picked up the cast polish gb today from 68charger I love the profile and look of the late cast gas blocks...... Oh Bob, you'd love it, it doesn't even have the. Barrel pin holes drilled but it's finish machined and has a nice visible polish inspection mark on the right side it's not even parked yet, I might have to hunt for a late 80's polish trunnion to make a late pattern polish akm

It would be nice to finaly organize my stuff all in one place as opposed to having a conglomaration of parts stuffed all over the place-It would make searching a heck of a lot easier

Im hoping to poke thru my stuff this weekend to see if i have an exta gas block ,but if Justin has one on hand id go with his because i dont know when i would get a chance to get to the post office-I,ve been doing late hours at work and the post office is closed whenI get home

I have been tossing around building an RPK Underfolder. I have been scanning APEX for pricing. They have some reasonable RPK kits and Virgin barrels. Or would it make more sense to get an underfolder kit and then order a RPK Heavy barrel? So many options.

The RPKs take a heavier receiver along with them being a bulged trunnion as well. I would pick up the RPK kit and then see about getting a folding trunnion and stock for the back. Keep in mind that you will have to mill the sides of the trunnion down due to the thicker receiver.
