View Full Version : Opinions on a 45ACP
What do you guys think about the Smith and Wesson 325 Night Guard or Thunder Ranch compared to a Kimber Ultra? I have been looking at getting one but don’t know which one. I like 1911s and have shot a few owned a couple. However I have always liked my Girlfriends S&W 38. Any input?

I have both the 325 and the Model 25-2 TR and a bunch of 1911's
and they are great guns, fun and a big bore to look at it.
but it's a LOT easier to shoot and carry my 1911's
plus you have to get all the moon clip loading and unloading stuff.
I shoot the 1911's a lot more but the 325/mod 25's are quite pretty and not something you see around much.
the 325 is a better gun than the model 25, lighter, better balanced. (lot lighter)
Lots depend on what you want to do with the guns.
Do you reload? Plan to play any gun games or just feel the need for a 45 ACP?
I reload 45 and have a few autos
There are polymer clips for revolvers that are a lot easier to load than the metal clips. Brownells have them. Search under RIMZ or Ezload clips.
45 autorim cartridges are made to work in revolvers that normally use 45 ACP in clips. It eliminates the clips.
Both make revolvers in 45ACP easier to shoot.

the moonclips are AWESOMELY fast to reload the revolver with though.
AWESOMELY fast.
oh hell, buy the thing, you only live once and it's not something you typically see at the range or competitions.[Direct]

half the joy man.
I had to special order my 325 (2 or 3 years ago, right when they came out, I was enamored (victim of marketing)
I've not seen any more of those although i have seen another model 22. (yes, I'm wrong above, I looked, it's a model 22)
ask at the local fun shop.

I have a couple 625s, a 25-2, and a 627. None of the lightweights though.
Fun guns to shoot. Shooting revos is kind of a zen thing sometimes.
The 627 is a lot of fun to shoot. Minimal recoil with 38s and you can always run 357s if you want some horsepower.
45 is just much $$$ to shoot anymore, even when you reload.
I'd buy a 625 if you already have several 45 acp pistols, and you reload for them. The 325 is to light to be fun to compete with, to big for most to CCW with and the absence of weight is of no concern for a house gun.
I have three 625's and they are just fun and flexible.
