all wise advise- All I can add- don't look for when you can draw...
I've had my permit for almost a year now- never drawn outside of training on my property or at a range... thankful for that!
I dread the day that I have to draw in public- but less than the day where something happens that I could have intervened, but wasn't prepared... that's what CCW is about, that little window.
I hope this makes sense- if it doesn't, try reading "on wolves, sheep and sheepdogs" by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, U.S. Army (Ret.).

Thanks for all the advice. That was a really good article. I'm 36 and have been hunting since I was 10. I hope I never have to draw on anyone.

Congrats. Take a few courses. I have taken several since getting mine and I didn't realize until after this training how unprepared I was when I started out.

welcome to the money pit.
You must be absolutely comfortable with your:
belt
Holster
Weapon
Ammunition
Magazines
Training
I Cannot over emphasize the training enough.
all in all, its a chain...
If any of those are weak, you risk a break

Thats good ammo. I have a few different kinds I carry.
Remember that water test I posted up here? It didnt get as much views as I thought.
Its really good for referencing and knowing how your ammo performs.
I have tested so many diffrent kinds. Im glad I tested it all because there is some garbage I would trust with ANYONEs life

I put in for my CHP the same day you did in Douglas county. It's supposed to be one of the better counties for CHP, but I haven't heard back yet (only been a week). I was told 4-6 weeks, I guess its just a waiting game now!

In El Paso county it took longer to renew my permit than it did to issue it initially. I think it was the post office though! 10 days first time 2 weeks to renew.

When I got mine in El Paso County in 07, it took just shy of three weeks. Gotta renew next year, if I go through Arapahoe, I wonder if I'll have to pay the full fee as a new applicant...
Today is three weeks. [Coffee] getting close I hope

I submitted today and the Deputy said they're averaging 4 weeks.

You should be able to just pay the renewal. If Arapahoe gives you grief, you can always renew in El Paso with your new address. I ended up getting my permit in Jeffco (where my business is located), instead of Adams (where I live), because at the time Adams only accepted permits 4 hours a day, 2 days a week, and I worked on both of those days every week. When I renew, it'll be in Jeffco as well.

reading this thread makes me hate Boulder County even more. Lady behind 6" of bullet proof glass "well its taking the full 90 day". Me, kinda pissed "This new sheriff station is dildos". I can get a gun in 10min but it takes 3 months to be able to carry it conceled. F Boulder
Just put in for mine today, in Jefferson County. Hopefully it doesn't take the full 90 days...
Yesterday was one month. Got the call today picking it up tomorrow [Tooth]

Careful. According to Diane Sawyer and ABC, you're more dangerous to innocent bystanders than bad guys. http://www.debbieschlussel.com/5055/diane-sawyer-abc-news-lie-in-anti-gun-propaganda-special/ [Bang]

Thanks for sharing the above link; I found the excerpt a good read and I think the author did a great job summing up the different types of people in the quote below. It definitely got me thinking more about carrying concealed.
"If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath--a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed."
