Teacher charged with possessing/carrying/using weapons at school.
The weapons?
http://www.rutherford.org/articles_db/press_release.asp?article_id=969
... tools such as wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers in his classroom as part of his second grade teaching curriculum that required a "tool discussion." Despite the fact that all potentially hazardous items were kept out of the students' reach, school officials at Washington Irving Elementary School informed Doug Bartlett, a 17-year veteran in the classroom, that his use of the tools as visual aids endangered his students.
This is Chicago, after all [Bang]

just once I would like to walk into one of these places and fully demonstrate the philosophy of "everything is a weapon."

I few years ago my company came out with a no weapons policy. It was very vague and broadly written. I responded to HR asking how was I supposed to do my job when 90% of the tools I had in my inspection bag were now not allowed. The policy was re-written.

That's 'crazy talk' right there.
so in shop class do they just use play-do?

Agreed,
Disarm the public immediately, take away all screwdrivers, knives, box openers, hammers, etc. The guns have already been removed from the criminal hands of Chicago so it's time to go after all that other stuff.
so in shop class do they just use play-do?
I don't think they teach "shop" anymore.
Well definately not in Chicago,,, just look at Barry.

...even water.
Good point, they could drink it....or use it for water boarding, which I'm not willing to risk.
God I hope I can send my kids to private school.

I guess so.
I remember taking shop and even archery with real life evil killing bows and arrows in jr high.

You bring up a good point. Those tools in the demonstration are incredibly dangerous... the kids could use them to get off their asses and learn how to work, which would prevent them from becoming lazy f*cks that need gov't handouts to survive, and then who would be left to vote for the future Obummers?

Some of my stuff, I'm sure I'd be under the jail.
Me too- hell they would probably send me to Gitmo.
Those vernier calipers and micrometers are capable of such carnage.
Let's not even go into the mass construction that a mill and lathe can cause.
Liberal hacks.........................
And McAntar-- I think you are on to something-lets NOT teach the kids how to accomplish anything.

My shop class in school taught me how to use a table saw, lathe, and the black and decker line of hand held destruction- er I mean construction. Carpenters, mechanics, and handymen will inherit the future America... that is if there are any left in a couple generations.

What the ....
I guess so.

They were just killing the shop program as I was leaving HS. Funny, they could afford a brand new multi-million dollar school, everything the football team wanted, and a state-of-the art security system (cameras every 2 feet), but god forbid the shop and music programs see any of that money.
Also, along with the archery thing, I remember my ex's dad telling me about how he was on his schools shooting team. Can you imagine the shit storm that would cause nowadays?

Back in the day... One of my favorite charges, if someone was kicked during a fight was ADW - Shod Foot.

Sheesh- My freshman high school Industrial Arts project was a copy of the Modena rifle.
Just needed a note from my dad saying it was OK.
Last year of school (08) my youngest wore a Stag Arms shirt to school-they made him turn it inside out.
so in shop class do they just use play-do?
nope, that has too much of a resemblance to C4, and is also a choking hazard.
City of Chicago is getting dumber every day.
