View Full Version : Trackday photos
Here are some shots from what will likely be the last trackday of the season for me. Time to get back to shooting.
Oh, it's a '99 Yamaha R1. The track is High Plains Raceway in Byers.

Awesome Tim! If I still had my bike (or at least the new one I wanna get) I'd love to go ride with you, always looking for new riding buddies and would love to get into the track side of it...
Side note: I've always wanted to start a pseudo biker-gang (legit not outlaw) that consists of nothing but slant bikes as opposed to the offensively loud Harleys.
And slants ain't offensive?

Specially up here where they HOG the road on curves.

It all depends on the rider- but 90% of the Harleys are loud as all get out! I've yet to see a Ducati V-Twin set off a car alarm from 1/2 mi away.
Very cool. Looks like a good day out!
Thanks for sharing

Cool pictures. Maybe one of these days I will be able to get down there on my CBR 1KRR. I've never run on a track before but have always wanted too.
Always wanted to do that.
Man I was so close to getting a track bike right before my accident now I might never ride again. Love the 99-02 R1, I had a 01 and man that bike was a blast. Thanks for posting!!

By chance your not on the CSC forum are you?

Sorry to hear you can't ride. That'd be tough.
I'm on CSC, same name as I use here. I wish my bike was fuel injected, but aside from that it's plenty of motorcycle for me. I ride it one gear high exiting the slower corners. If I don't it'll wheelie all the way to the next corner and scare me silly. Poo, it turns out, is hard to get out of leathers.
LOL man yea she has a ton of torq. I'm on CSC as well under the same name. What sucks is I even found the chubby man leathers!

We will see, its nothing too bad but I might just have the decsion to make when the time comes.

Be safe and see you on the boards!!!

This was my last day at the track a few years ago. I miss it.

I belonged to Sin City Sportbikes when I lived in Vegas. Great club at the time. I now know noone anymore who is in it.

If you're referring to Martin, he went down hard at the same track day. He's still healing up as I understand it.
I know enough about that track to know there is a crazy long straightaway that runs along part of Hwy 36. What kind of speeds do you hit on that part of the track? Just curious.
By the way, you sport bike guys are nuts. [Awesom]

OH Sh!t... Martin has a pretty good tendency of testing his limits... and going down. I gotta give him a call and see how he's doing... We've got the same bikes 03' GSXR1000 with set ups that are close to identical.

I've reached the speedo's max at 185 mph on my bike and had the tach needle still moving 10000 to 13000 rpms to the end of the tracks straight. I know the experts are hitting that 200 mph barrier with their well prepped bikes. Those guys pass me like I was standing still on that straight.[ROFL1]

Awesome pics, always wanted to get into racing like that. I tried when I was in the Navy, but all the regulations to just to be able to ride a bike turned me off to ever doing it.

Well, it's never to late to go out racing. We have a local race club here (Motorcycle Racing Association)... and they even have a race event for guys with regular street bike called "Superstreet"... so you don't need a fully prepped race bike to go racing, but you would need a full race suit with gloves, boots, and back protector. Guys in the club would even try to get you some gear they can loan you just so you can go out and race.[Beer]

Thats awesome, I will look into it. I have some gear and just need to buy a bike again, prob late winter is when I will buy ( I know shitty time due to spring around the corner and price increase for bike saeson) and I know my wife and kids would enjoy going and watching me "race"

My Brother in Law just got vested with the Ruff Ryders(sp?) and he has tons of gear he would let me use or sell to me. He is considering selling me his 2008 or 2009 R1 also.

Same here.... I'll probably ride again too, but its hard.. I love bikes. They have been my passion for about ten years.. But I can honestly say it's not worth loosing a leg...which I came very close to doing last year. Long term, who knows. Maybe you and I should get together and talk eachother into it hehe...
I on that forum btw. You ever ride with those guys? If so, w have probably met, or at least know a bunch of the same people

It's all in the spirit of enjoying yourself and having fun... if your gonna do some serious track time.. try to get yourself a used but fully prepped track bike. Unless your an EXPERT rider and think you'll cash in $8000 a weekend winning every race in your class then by God do it! DON'T try to start from scratch you'll spend to much money on something your gonna trash! On the MRA forums you'll be able to find a good track bike for $3000 or less (Strictly track not street legal). Choices between CC's: 600cc's tires last longer [Coffee] 1000cc's you'll be getting new tires almost every event[ROFL1] Try not to skimp out on the riding gear (leathers, boots, gloves, helmet, etc...), cause it will save your ass!
If you got any questions on any of this stuff don't hesitate to ask me or any other racers on that forum. We actually promote and help guys get faster than us... it makes it so much fun [Beer]

I wouldn't skimp on the gear. The best that money can buy so to speak. I would get what fits best and is most protective for me since I have 6 mouths to feed and they depend on me to provide. It would mainly be for fun and nothing to serious.

Very cool... With the gear. Run to your nearest motorcycle shop and try on their leather suits, gloves, helmets, back protectors... and take note of the sizes! On the MRA forums you can get the stuff practically half priced most times for top name brands!
All of my race equipment along with the generator is all USED[LOL] yup.. even the helmet [ROFL1]

What do you mean generator? Is it something I have never heard of as far as gear or just a generator to run stuff off of when at the track?[NoEvil]
