View Full Version : Beretta warranty only for original owner
I recently picked up a used Beretta 84F which I am really happy with. When I went through my initial checkout at the range I did notice one interesting "feature". The gun fires in the safe position (the gun has a 3 position safety, fire, safe, decock). I was just going to live with it as I can use decock if I want to use a safety, but several people said I should call Beretta and they would hook me up.
Well Beretta will not hook me up.... In fact they basically told me to pound sand. I politely told them that other manufacturers would not treat me like that and that if they stood behind their product I would expect support on such a "dramatic safety issue" to no avail. Still love the gun, but thought I would report how Beretta treated the situation.

Makes sense to me. Who knows what the previous owner did to the pistol.

Welcome to the arrogance of Beretta, but it is pretty much the norm. Most warranties will only apply to the original purchaser.
If you come up to the Denver area give me a shout.

+1 I have a cx4 storm and the Rail on top is not mil-spec and my aim point is all over the place on it. I tried an A.R.M.S and LaRue mount and its the rail not the mounts. only reason I got the Storm was I could not find an UZI. And Beretta told me to get bent, If you try and get a hold of them its a huge PITA

Most European gun companies are a PITA. Especially HK.

HK "go fuck yourself"
Isn't there some famous essay by Larry Correrria about how HK hates it's customers?

I was under this assumption until was told by several people in the firearm industry that I should call. I have heard Springfield, for example, would have repaired the gun for free even if I bought it used.
No big deal though, great little carry gun.
William - The 84F only has 2 positions. Decock/Safe and Fire. Up is for the decock and down is for fire. As long as you push up until the hammer decocks, your firearm should not fire. If you push up and the hammer has not decocked, you do not have it in Safe. Are you sure Beretta did not try to explain this to you?
You MUST engage the Decock/Safety until the hammer drops for it to be engaged. I think your gun functions as designed. They are great guns and should last you a lifetime. Enjoy & blast away!
