View Full Version : SHOOT POSTPONED
Due to what sounds like some ugly driveing conditions at higher elevations, I'm going to go ahead and postpone the shoot. IF conditions improve and anybody wants to, We can try again tomorrow. If not, We'll try next week.
Be careful out there.

Saved!!! Maybe I'll make the (rescheduled) shoot after all.
FYI, we have only a dusting here in FC.
Sounds like it's worse further south this time.
Which sucks since we have to be in Boulder by 8:15.

I vote next week.
I'm thinking next week might be the better choice. Besides, I should have more ammo by then. [pirate]

More ammo is a GREAT idea! Thanks for reminding me.
This storm sucks, I really wanted to go today. But hopefully next week will be "nicer" weather and not another flippin' snowstorm.
I'm prepping some .38 cases for reloading, just need to go out and get some of that explosive stuff and some lead doohickies.
The weather here is nice and sunny. You should move the shoot to tomorrow @ Dragon.  :P

Next Saturday the 28th. Great idea, count me in. I did go shooting today in the Canyon and although the weather was perfect the snow was a pain. The forecast is nice during the week but another possible storm coming in by Friday.

Unfortunately I only have Friday night off this week.
I could go up early and leave early and still be home in time to get some sleep before work, but I've done that before and it leads to less than satisfactory results.
But I really need to go shooting.
Not want, NEED.

Ok, so if I can to show up, what time and where?
I might as well try and meet some of you guys, puts my mug shot with a name anyway..... Can I bring my 12yr old daughter and/or wife?
What about targets? What kind of setup is there, I have three stands w/ IPSC targets, spinners ect....
My AR may even be together. I think the last of the parts are on the UPS truck for Friday. Although, I could use someone to look it over for me before I crank a shot off. A friend loaned me an upper that needed the bolt carrier assy, charging handle and gas tube.

Only been to one official shoot so far myself, but bring anyone you want. There were several kids/wives/girlfriends at the last one I attended.
Targets: yes please. This is just open FS land with a couple berms. Targets good. Last time I brought a cheapo pistol target stand (paper) and a few gallon water jugs w/ some food coloring. [Who hit those anyway? I sure didn't.]
Where/when: this link (http://coloradoshooting.org/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2980) has location info. This Saturday it's the North location, where Hwy 7 comes up from Lyons and meets the Peak To Peak (72). Some folks get there 9-10am-ish, some a bit later.
Hope to make it myself.

Oh, I get it!!!! :P
Thanks for the link to directions!!!!!!
Targets;
First off, I'm cheap.....
This is what I use and reccomend for those who like to throw lead....
Those "loose weight", "will buy your house", "blah blah" corrigated plastic signs are perfect for stick on targets and staple on paper targets. I drive down a road that is plastered with them and load up. I carry dike cutters with me to cut their zip ties. For the holders, I use the wire shelving units you get from Home Depot in their closset organizing isle. Cut them down into 12" long pieces and trim somme of the pins off. They stick perfectly inside the corrigated plastic signs and into the ground....
That said, I'm not sure how many I have in the state. I shoot a lot in Kansas and have a lot of that type stuff out there. I'll bring what I have of those.

Weather for there today was sunny, 40's. Tomorrow calls for sunny, 50's.
Worst case scenario is mud. Probably will still be snow on the ground.
Ammo is packed, everything else is waiting to load up.

Man was it windy!
Nice sunny day & enough snow so we really didn't have to deal with any mud.
All kinds of people showed up I'd never met before: OddThomas, Marpat, Badshot, Gman, Scott, Devochka, Kappy, I hope I remembered everyone...
And I got to shoot some cool guns I hadn't tried before:
Oddthomas' shotgun, Kappy's saiga, Badshot's PTR91 - thanks guys!
Finally after being rewarded with an occasional moment of decreased wind the last of us start packing up.
Who should show up but MP5Engineer & Topherseven with the cool new 10/22. That thing rocks! Anybody have a 10/22 for sale?
Then Topherseven demonstrated his outstanding skill at bump firing an AR!!! [headbang] [headbang]

Oh man, I wish I could have made it. Great pics....

If you were talking about my pics, yes, the camera is a digital -- a Canon Digital Rebel (called the 300D outside of the US) with a Canon 28-135 IS lens. The auto focus doesn't seem to work anymore (6 months out of warranty!), so all pics were manually focused.
Pictures were post-processed in Photoshop CS2. All underwent a re-sizing for use on the internet (the original 6.1MP images are 2-3 MB each), and most of them underwent slight color correcting.
If anyone wants a higher resolution (3072 x 2048) version of the pics, just PM me or e-mail me with the file name (IMG_00XX.JPG) and I can e-mail them to you.

man I got cold lookin at the pics. I would have froze my ass off.
Honestly, aside from some mean wind from time to time, it really was rather warm. We had problems with Clays sinking in the snow from melt.
