So I ran up to the local "Smashburger" on 120th today to grab grub. There is a church a ways east from it and they had a bunch of Pro-Lifers out on the sidewalk on 120th holding up all the usual Pro-Life paraphenalia.
Whatever-its a relatively free country as of today.
As I get my grub and leave the store I barely get out of the doorway and some nag shoves a rather graphic abortion brochure in my face and starts on her spiel.
I don't have tolerance for that kinda crap at all. Besides, I'm hungry and cranky.
So I asked her what her views were on Capitol Punishment.
"Oh I am all for "An eye for an eye" and if the punishment fits the crime" was here reply.
I told her she was a 'effin hypocrite.
Just then the manager came out and gave her hell, he had apparantly chased her off before.
Now I know the two are entirely different scenarios but a life is a life.

funny.
I understand what you are saying Bert, and I have little tolerance for anyone who disturbs my peace with whatever political agenda they happen to be pushing.
That said, killing a convicted criminal is not the same as killing an unborn child. Just my $.02

Chuck - Given our history on convicting criminals I'd say there are some parallels.
If someone jumped in front of me with a gory picture, it'd probably be survival instinct to lay them the F out with a right hook.
I had some guy approach me trying to sell some crap out of a can. He didn't even tell me what it was, just that he was promoting it. He pointed it at my car and said "Check this out!" I about had to lay him out to get him not to spray it. Then he asked, "Oh is this your only car?"
What the hell? The issue was I had no idea what he was talking about.
yeah, who knows how many people that unborn child has murdered. it deserves to die! [ROFL2][ROFL2]

I'm pro-life, but there's a way to effectively promote your position on issues that are important to you. Invading a person's personal space with graphic portrayals of aborted babies probably isn't one of those effective ways. It is a good way to possibly get punched in the face though. Especially when your hungry.
That being said, I don't agree with the idea that being pro-life and agreeing with capital punishment is hypocritical. If it is, than being pro-choice and against capital punishment is hypocritical as well.

You don't know what was in the can? I think it's pretty obvious. Everybody knows what's in the can!

I agree, even with people promoting crap I agree with annoy me when they try and shove stuff in my face.
I've had the same conversation with someone, but our sides were reversed.
I asked what his stance on capital punishment was. "Nobody deserves to die, and it's not our place to kill other human beings" was his response... as he handed out pamphlets promoting the killing of unborn children.

I am a firm and solid advocate for personal responsibility.
*IF* you decide you want to kill the unborn child you are carrying, that is your choice. Your seat in Hell is yours to choose.
I refuse to pay for it or subsidize it in any manner.

1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

Besides, if thats the only thing that sends me to Hell, I'm doing OK.

totally agree. child never had a chance. and as the father of a newborn that is just over a week old, i have some stronger feelings now.
I have no problem with the death penalty, other than that it is not acted on much sooner. If the circumstances are absolute and there is no question in the case, multiple witnesses, confession by the killer etc. it should be done after the verdict.

I clearly stated that they are two ENTIRELY different scenarios from the git-go.
Didn't mean to bother anybody if it did.

I'm a pro-life born again Christian... but I am a firm believer that, even if I agree with you, don't push ANYTHING in my face until after I've eaten, found my moment of digestive contentment, and have washed my hands.
Even then... don't get in my face about it.
Now lets talk about how wonderful smash burger is.
Can I get an amen?

I was wondering what all these people were doing with the signs the other day. Kind of hard to read them doing 45...
