I'm hoping to make the shoot this weekend and wanted to ask a question about ammo.
What if I see a gun in X caliber and I want to try it out. Owner says sure fire a couple rounds. That's all good to me.

What's the deal if you want to shoot more than a couple rounds? Say someone has Y caliber and a "1" gun? If I'm thinking about that gun but it's not in the caliber of ammo I brought???

Say I show up, have ammo in X, Y, Z calibers yet someone else has a gun in R caliber and I'd love to shoot the living snot out of it... say like an AK while I've got AR ammo

What's the polite etiquette here? If you shoot more than X rounds of ammo then ... what? if it's an ammo I carry I'd reload and offer my own rounds to replace the ones I shot.

Asking for info before the shoot so I'm not inadvertently pissing someone off by shooting too much of their ammo

Ask

"Hey man, can I Shoot a mag of this and trade you a mag of that? maybe give you some bucks for it?"

I won't be attending the shoot but I think the proper etiquette would be to ask what would be ok to shoot and then if you want to surpass them make a reasonable offer to compensate them for it.

That's how I've handled it when wanting to shoot someone else's firearm at the range.

I would ask them if I could shoot a mag out of thier gun and in exchange they could shoot a mag out of any of my guns. Everyone likes to shoot new and different guns.

Red or White wine for fall colors? reimbursement or an offer to cover ammo is always appreciated.

The group shoots are not a higher Ed. Math test, just come out and have some fun. Be as generous with firearms and ammo as most of us are with ours.
My firearms will only fire my ammo, whether factory or reloads, I won't let anyone fire my reloads through their guns, but they are welcome to try out anything I have using my ammo.
Of course after I have a chance to resight them in, I did another change up on sights and fixed a loose sight on another weapon.

SSB.

This is how I roll with my stuff. I have been able to buy some nice toys, including full-auto guns and a Barrett Light.50. I will never tell some one they can't try out something because they don't have $$ or something I want to shoot. If you see something you want to shoot, ask with what you think is a fair deal, and see what happens. A full-auto M-16 is a 10-15k gun, so for me (or any one) to not be able to share a mag is BS. HOWEVER, one day, some one my want to try your toy (we have all been there) so be ready to share. Pay it forward, especially if there are kids.

Ahhhhh! I would kill for a mag of full auto! I'll trade / buy whatever you want! Lol

I've been working Saturdays the last few years and haven't made any of the shoots in quite awhile. All the times I went though, everyone was nice, normal guys and ladies. I wouldn't worry. I was afraid my son was being an ammo hog at one shoot, but Steve and Mary were very nice and said not to worry about it. I just used to bring extra ammo for gun calibers I didn't even own, just in case.
