The more I shoot my M&P Pro Series, the more bored I am with it. Bam, bam , bam... I could go on and on. There isn't a whole lot you can to to improve it. I found a magwell that is serviceable and cheap- look it up by looking up "Smart-Lock". Very inexpensive- like $28. Works well enough, but it's made out of plastic and needs to be stiffer. Still worth it. I bought a KKM match barrel from Brownells for it, I'm not quite convinced yet, I think the factory barrel was a mite more consistant. I'm going to give that a little more time. Brownells is super about returns, so I'm going to see what a few? more rounds reveal. Now 10-8 Performance, that's another story. Check them out. They sell certain parts for certain pistols, all top quality. I like the mag base pads they sell for the M&P. Aluminum, angled to your advantage and well worth it for every M&P mag you own. They work well with the Smart-Lock magwell. Guess what? Andy Stanford has told me over and over that if you find a pistol that really fits you, you shoot well, and is stone reliable- you should have 2. Guess what? I'm going for the brace.

Here are a couple of pics for my fellow M&P users. The Smart Lock magwell I referred to is well shown, as is fit and appearance. I replaced all of my M&P basepads with aluminum ones from 10-8 Performance. You can see how everything sits. The magwell is made out of plastic that is a tiny bit too flexible, but for its cost, I think it is a worthwhile add-on. I like the little ledge all the way around- reminds me of the Heinie magwell on a custom 1911. Free advice, don't get their thumbrest, it is worthless and will flex right off of the pins holding it in place if you have a strong thumb. There really isn't a whole lot you need to do to the M&P. You can also see the Comp-Tac holster, it is their Competition model and is excellent.

As a follow-up, I did order another Pro Series M&P just like the first. I'll put another Smart-Lock magwell on it- then take both to the range and- having 2 factory barrels and the KKM from Brownells, I'm gonna swap them all around and see if either of the 2 show a barrel preference.

"...you should have two"

Funny you mention that. I'm working on bringing home my 2nd and our family's 3rd -- hopefully tomorrow.

Ridiculously comfortable, accurate, consistent and reliable. I had to go from Glock to M&P and back to Glock to finally come back to the M&P as as solid everyday performer.

My 2nd identical M&P Pro has been ordered and paid for- just waiting for delivery. I'm going to trick it up so as to be identical to my 1st. That is adding a Magwell and 10-8 mag basepads. Nothing else is necessary. Except of course your choice of holster and ammo. One will be in my bug-out bag.
