Just flipping through the "best of" issue of the Independant, and saw an ad for the aforementioned class. Does anyone know anything about the class or its instructors? I'm going to call tomorrow to see what their schedule is. Looks like the price is right.

k..... i got a call back from the guy, his name is mike, and i guess he is a one man band. He does his classes every 2 weeks on wednesday nights. the class is $75 from 6pm-9pm, no range time.

From what he said, I take my certificate to the sherrif, pay the $52 for the fingerprinting and background check and then pay $100 to the state, if the background check comes back clear, then i have my permit.

FWIW Only take this class if you need a peice of paper proving you have learned gun safety.

I had serious misconceptions about the class. I thought we were going to learn about the laws surrounding carrying weapons concealed. I didnt know i was going through gun safety again.

Most of the classes that I've seen that advertise they are for a CCW are exactly that. No more, no less. That's what the law requires. For $75.00 and 3 hours time, as long as he delivers the certificate, it's a good deal. Karl.

Sounds like the one I took here in Woodland Park. His name is Mike Holler. He seemed to be a nice guy and pretty knowledgeable. He does it out of his home. It is a very simple class giving you only what is required to get your CHP. He said he is a firearms instructor and can provide more training if you want. I think he charges $125 for a 1 on 1 class.
