Were you up there today or yesterday?

I was up there yesterday and am pretty sure I know what group you are talking about. They had a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins and made multiple trips. They also had some paper targets set up and just left them. Pretty careless (to put it nicely...).

A lot of people think because something is biodegradable then it's OK to leave. While many Forest Service Law Enforcement may let you get away with it, it's not really allowed. If it wasn't there when you came, and/or it is not part of the natural landscape in that area, then you are required BY LAW to take it with you. This includes ANYTHING you shoot, whether you brought it or not. Karl.

Wallary
11-06-2006, 19:36
What about the fmj's and lead all over the place? Who's going to pick up everything they shoot? I clean up all my brass & targets and other peoples trash but when it comes to pumpkin guts, I can't see us picking up every seed and all that goo. Why have a pumpkin shoot if were going to feel guilty about the mess. You know it's going to make a frickin mess! Someone please post the proper clean up procedure for the pumpkin shoot. That way whom every shoots pumpkins can take care of their own mess. Just my 2 cents worth. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/Tedwantsthemdead/wallaryAR15Avatar.gif

chrisguy
11-06-2006, 21:34
Just get a plastic tarp or three to put under the punkins at the target spots/ranges? Should allow you to pick up most of it I'd think.

Wish I could make it.

KarlPMann
11-06-2006, 22:07

"Just out of curiosity do you EVER have anything positive to say or is it always negative?????"

Sorry...but have I somehow urinated in your breakfast cereal???

As to Karls posts..I am in full agreement...getting all the "pieces" is no big deal, but leaving big piles of pumpkins that are 50% or more intact is not a good thing

Neither is the large piles of shotgun shells, or the wood pallets...I could go on and on

I had my wifes car so I only got what would fit in a contractor bag..if I had my expedition I might have tried to haul out some additional trash

Sorry if anyone's feeling are hurt, but I firmly believe the forest service is just looking for a reason to shut down shooting so ANYONE that leaves a mess is screwing it up for EVERYBODY

HunterCO
11-08-2006, 21:36
Lighten up Francis you just proved my point. [blackeye] Good on you that you helped clean up after some dip$hits but seriously the pumpkin guts are harmless they will be gone within a few days.

I thought you said you where afraid to go to public places because it was too dangerous and went off with a few friends by yourself? Why are you going to the north spot since it is so dangerous to shoot with large crowds as you said in one of our shoot threads?

All I meant is that in every CO shoot thread you have posted in it has been a negative comment. We all have fun if you want to join in your more than welcome we all have a great time so we don't need all the negative comments. We also clean up after ourselves fair enough? [abused]

I need to get to 5280 tomorrow and pray that they have a case of the SA 7.62nato left, or I'll be stuck using wolf.

But, as the schedule sits right now, I'm working Sat-Thurs this coming week and will have Friday and Saturday nights off.

So I should be able to sight in the new scope on the FAL and inflict some serious pumpkin destruction with the restocked shotty.

Oh, I guess I should buy some pumpkins, too.

I'm at Bowles and Wadsworth, so I'd be interested in going this way. Are there dirt roads that way? My truck can handle them no problem, but there's a possibility we'll have a car with us too.

Actually I may not be going down till about 11 or so, as I have to work till early that morning. Any way to lay that way out? I was also considering going 67 from Deckers.

HunterCO
11-15-2006, 15:54
It's easy just go up 285 to Pine Junction make a left at the light that is CO126. Go south and 126 turns into 67 at Deckers.

I almost forgot yes it is paved the entire way no dirt.

I think it takes longer to get to Pine Junction that way for me than to take Santa Fe down and catch 67 through Sedalia. Has anyone gone this way?

TheSparkens
11-15-2006, 22:35
I have gone 67 via Sedalia, it's ok unless you hit a bunch of traffic from people going to Rampart to go dirt biking. Did they get all the roads repaired in the Deckers area.

HunterCO
11-15-2006, 23:05
I have gone both ways I will take 126 it don't make a difference as long as you get your arse to the shoot. [postal]

KarlPMann
11-16-2006, 01:06
Yeah and remember the forest service doesn't plow roads ands we've had a bit of snow, so that road from Sedalia to Deckers may be a bit tougher than the paved road way that Hunter takes. As for fixing all the roads? They have 67 open, but that's all I know about. Karl.

South African 140 rd. battle packs were up to 45$ each. There is more Wolf (bought 100 rds @ 5.95 per 20 rd box) and it was only a matter of time before I started buying it in .308, so I guess that time is now. apparently one can remove the sight stop pin without removing the sight on this lower. normally it is blocked from backing out, on this lower there is a notch. Probably a good thing if the pin is secure.

well it backed out and fell into the FCG blocking the trigger from resetting after a shot. this locked things up pretty good.

now where did I put that locktite :)

(pin shown set in place backwards, it normally pushes in with the fat part underneath)

I was one of those that left a bit early. I've been feeling pretty run-down of late and had a headache today. I waited until about 1:15pm because I had promised Asha'man a couple of mags to use with his new AR. I figured something came up with him and I was, unfortunately, correct. Hope you feel better soon, Brian. I hope everyone under the weather gets better real soon.

It was nice to see those smiling faces and the weather was nice enough to cooperate.

No need to feel like an @ss. I go to the shoots to get a break and think about something else for awhile. They wouldn't be much fun if I spent the time recounting our situation.

She is hangin' in there. The heel wound keeps getting smaller. We're just having to work through some strife with a caseworker at the hospital that is a real drama queen. I took Friday off from work and spent it at the hospital dealing with the lack of communication and organization at the hospital. You really have to stay engaged to make sure they do the right thing.

They moved my group at work to a new manager who is an empty suit. My manager of the past 8 years has moved out of our group and into another. I would like to have more options to make a change, but I really need the insurance coverage and can't risk it right now. I'm trying to work an internal transfer to move to another group since our team is being setup to fail.

Other than that, everything is peachy. [ohno]

We had a great time, many pumpkins met their maker. It was also a good opportunity to get rid of all that ammo that was about to expire
PS, great pics Erin!

Thanks for sticking around for me, man. I posted here as soon as I knew I wasn't going in the hopes that some latecomer might see it and be able to tell you guys, but apparently we should have a phone # list or something, lol.

Sharon and I had a great time. I actually got her to shoot the 9 a couple of times. lol She said she can see now, that I need some more toys. It just goes to show that a few years living with a conservative can change a liberal. lol So who volunteers to go live with Nancy Pelosi? [roll]
