Mine, and a lot of people opinion, is this is going to force the entire state to go "shall issue" on CCW, instead of "may issue". Interestingly, now, you cannot carry your pistol in CA at all. CA does not honor CO ccw, and now no open carry, so your 2nd amendment is banned there. I see it going to "shall issue" then reciprocity BS being uniform across the country, while all the libs kick and cry, but the courts keep doing their job.

BTW, there was someone from Cali, who was in a court case with Denver. He couldnt get a ccw in Cali, couldnt get an out of state ccw for CO, and Denver banned open carry, so his 2nd amendment was thus denied in Denver. Never did hear what happened with that case.

I occasionally read some of the Calguns threads, and I am absolutely amazed how the guns owners in CA find ingenious ways to subvert pretty much every law that gets passed (bullet buttons, monsterman grips, AR15 based 50 BMG's, and temporary single shot conversions).

Don't worry too much about the California shooting community. They've come back from laws that tried to have a more dramatic and real world effects than this. Also, in case anyone didn't know, open carry there means no ammunition in the gun and the action open. It was not only worthless in a lot of self defense scenarios but a huge detrement since you're advertising FREE GUN TO ANY SCUM BAG THAT WANTS TO GRAB IT!

While I'm 1000% against this on the 2nd amendment principle (like everyone else here certainly is) and the further chipping away at their rights, there are bigger issues they have to deal with. Sadly this passing means it's only going to get worse.

They already deal with:

-Fingerprints to buy ammo in L.A. city and no sales a week before New Year's and 4th of July.

-They issue CCW's by counties which don't recognize other counties and sure don't recognize other states.

-Last time I checked there were around 30 CCW's issued in L.A. county.

-No right to defend yours or your neighbor's property. The precidences are set up in such a way that if you shoot someone in your home you better kill them and anyone with them so you don't get sued or brought up on other charges.

And a list of laws that are so easy to get around they make no sense:

-10 round magazine limits which have TONS of loopholes.

-A very specific list of handguns you're allowed to buy and costs money for manufacturers to get on but someone moving in the state can grandfather them in and make some big bucks. That list is so specific, by the way, it dictates the finish on certain models. For example, the only new Desert Eagle you can buy is blued.

-A ban on AR's (and I think AK's) which only mentioned certain manufacturers but you can get any other one you want.

What does this add up to? Criminals have whatever they want because they're breaking the law anyway.

Those are just the big ones I could think of and without going into too much detail. The big problem is that the headline that tops this is Jerry has to sign well over 100 bills that came across is desk today so they could be laws for 2012. All the legislation there does is come up with hundreds of those things all year (most of which have zero chance of passing) instead of dealing with the real issues.

The moral of the story is that I'm glad I live in Colorado again. Before someone gets that sawzall I'd appreciate a heads up so I can tell some of my friends to come out for a visit first.

I don't live there, but I'm pretty positive that this is wrong. You can't carry a gun with the action open. I'm relatively certain that it was empty gun, loaded mag, mag not inserted inside gun, maybe even on opposite side of belt.

you messed up the last part just a touch. the belt had to be worn INSIDE the pants and buckled in back.

Eff California anyway... The only good thing to come out of that state was Bruce Willis' career in the 1990's. I say we're well overdue for that tectonic shift that yanks CA violently from the rest of the country.

WHAAAAA? That is such a non-sequitor kind of law. Makes zero sense.

Here is the real problem- Colorado is the largest importer of folks from Kommiefornia... Let's pray they leave their ideas like this on the West Coast.
