Anybody have a Cominolli Safety installed on a Glock? How does it work for you?

Thought about putting one on the G30 because the better half refuses to carry something without a thumb switch, decided I wasn't grinding on my frame to put one in there.

I have heard nothing but good about them. Apparently Glock built a Model 17S for the Australian Police with the same system. The actual thumb piece was a little larger though.

Sorry, but this sounds like welding a chain to the side of your Liberty safe so you can pad lock the door shut.

Parts left off cost nothing.
Parts left off cannot fail.

Your safety with a Glock is your trigger finger not being on the trigger till you're sure of your target and ready to fire. If you really must have a manual safety, get a 1911.

The Glock was designed as an external holster weapon for military and police. It was never designed for IWB carry and it sucks for that purpose! Its not my finger I worry about causing an AD or what have you. The attached ( I hope it attached) picture shows a holster snagging on the trigger of the owner's Glock. Shot a hole in the guy's pants (lucky for him) and went through his car seat. Hence my interest in the Caminolli. I have four Glocks - they are excellent guns but they are far from "perfect" for IWB carry.

Interesting... I've been IWB'ing my Glock for close to a decade now in various holsters... Never a problem with AD's, etc. But I do check the wear and tear on holsters etc, so that might account for it to. If your leather is starting to be easily moveable, time for a new holster....

You are making a gun modification for a holster problem. This could have just as easily happened with dozens of other pistols that are regularly carried chamber loaded and no external safety or with the external safed not engaged. The latter is the std carry condition of the M9 pistol.

I've read the info on this incident you are talking about and even the guy this happened to said it was a holster problem.

I knew this would get you guys' juices flowing. Nothing like bad mouthing Glock. I think I'll trash talk the 45 ACP next.

But that said, I have plenty other weapons better suited for IWB carry from a safety stand point. The thing is that Glock offers about the best combination of weight to round ratio, thickness (for a high cap) and low center of gravity of any weapon. Why not modify it to make it fit my needs? If the darned safety works I gonna install it.

As I recall JB didn't include a beaver tail grip safety, full length guide rod, mag well or H3 low mount sight on the original 1911 design. I don't hear many folks giving Kimber or SA a hard time for their unauthorized modifications to a 'perfect' design.

Guys guns are dangerous and we should all install several safeties on our guns that can kill people randomly.. especially if they have one of those shoulder thingies that go up..

Mechanical safeties can fail, which is why one should never "trust" them. How many people have been shot after the phrase "don't worry the safety is on" was uttered?

Hence the rule, treat every gun as if it were loaded, especially if it is. A pre-carry inspection should identify any issues that one could have with a holster.

Jeeze, I thought this string was dead!

I have got the safeties and a frame jig in the mail this weekend. Will keep you updated on how I like 'em after I find time to install 'em. Now, shall I subject the virtuous G27 or the virginal two tone G23 to my corrupting lusts first? Boy I'm evil.

If I shoot myself because the Cominolli Safety failed I'll let you know about that also. But then I'm not disabling the wonderful Glock trigger thingie so I ought to be safe!
