The anti-gun idiots are trying to kill yet another range expansion in Colorado. This one is at Colorado Clays outside of Brighton. They want to expand and include pistol and rifle ranges. This is a well engineered expansion and is no danger to the neighboring land owners. Still, the FUD from the NIMBY crowd is deafening.

The Adams County Board hearing (to voice your support) is on 24-October 2011 at 9am. You can also email the commissioners at:

Skip Fischer(D): sfischer@adcogov.org
Alice Nichol(D): anichol@adcogov.org
Erik Hansen(R): ehansen@adcogov.org

Please be respectful. I intend to point out that Senator Udall is likewise concerned about the lack of places to shoot and conduct CCW training in Colorado. Since two of these politicos are Democrats, that angle may help give them cover with their more rabid anti-gun constituents. Even though many of us are out-of-county, these Commissioners take note. Being politicians, they have to worry about their next opponent getting campaign contributions from pro-gun activists. The fact that you're emailing them shows you care enough for it to matter.

Here's the hearing doc:

Here are details of the range expansion:

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO FELLOW SHOOTERS IN THE DENVER METRO AREA - ESPECIALLY ADAMS COUNTY RESIDENTS.

Disclosure: I am in no way affiliated with Colorado Clays nor do I know the owners. I've shot there a few times, but I live in JeffCo so this is more of a principle thing for me. We need to be just as vocal as the neighbors are.

Yep their "membership" is a joke. How does $20/hr stack up with other outdoor ranges?

Way expensive. That's how.

that's the reason i won't go there. I drive another couple miles down the same road and shoot clays on my buddies property.

The only other outdoor range I know of open to the public (not a "membership only" thing) is the one in Cherry Creek State Park. Their fees are $16.50 for the day, not per hour.
