Do you guys think it would be worth it to go to the Tanner show this weekend if my only reason was to find a stripped AR-15 lower? TIA.

if it were me I would just buy one from the internet.

Theyre easy enough to find and cheap enough that I dont think you would really be losing much.

Eh, you can find them at a few gun shops around town, and my experience is that things are never that much cheaper at Tanner (enough to justify going). Unless one of the folks on here has stuff for sale there, then I would support them...

Thanks for the responses. I was looking at getting one online, but I was hoping to be able to go somewhere and see them in person. Is there usually a pretty decent selection of stripped lowers at the Tanner Gun Show?

$70 at a local vendor who is always at Tanner too. Ulysses Firearms. I've bought a few from him, they are Surplus Arms and Ammo lowers, but seem good to go.

most lowers are made to the same specs as each other, so there really isnt much difference between most mfg's.

As long as you go with a reputable manufacturer you should be alright.
Surplus Arms and Ammo is a good company, and for 70 bucks, I would just as well pick up 2 or 3 for those surprise additions to the collection [Coffee]

Wow. $70 is a lot less than I was expecting to pay, but I don't think that will work for my build. I'm looking for a lower that will match my Colt M16A1 kit, and the Surplus Ammo lower looks like it's black.

If youre looking for retro build parts, I would check these guys out.

They specialize in making/supplying stuff for retro builds that guys want to look authentic.

Thanks, I heard they come highly recommended. I was hoping to find a gray lower that matches the M16A1 upper. Are most lowers on the market black like the Surplus Ammo is?

yeah, a lot of the lowers you see on the market today are a black anodized finish.

Those NoDak lowers are mostly finished with the original gray color, but some are still anodized black. It should be pretty easy to tell through the pics on their website which is which.

I would say yes, most of the ones you will run across will be black

And there are usually a number of folks at Tanner selling lowers, I am not sure about the gray ones, but it might be worth checking out still

You could always have the upper and lower refinished to match each other if you wanted.

For the most part, Tanner is overpriced. A few good deals, but those go fast. It's more for the gun ambiance than anything else.
