Domestic dispute leads to man barricading self in home

Colorado Springs Police are engaged in a stand-off situation with an unidentified individual who is known to have multiple fire arms. Police are asking residents in the 1500 block of Canoe Creek to stay inside at this time and for everyone else not involved to stay clear of the area.

Police have been making contact with the person of interest and have just dispatched their Tactical Enforcement Unit of the Colorado Springs Police Department. We will update as information comes available.

The individual in the home has made threats of suicide either by his own hands or by police. Police are working to defuse the situation without incident.

We just finished a press briefing with Colorado Springs Police about the standoff at 1515 Canoe Creek Dr. That's in a neighborhood on the city's southwest side near Fort Carson. Police tell us 57 year old Keith Johnson is currently armed and barricaded inside his home. It started when police were called to the home on a domestic dispute. Johnson has told police he will either kill himself or engage in a shootout with police. Sgt. Darrin Abbink with CSPD tells us Johnson is still talking to negotiators. It's believed that Johnson is the only one in the home. He has several weapons inside the home Johnson will be facing misdemeanor domestic violence charges. Some homes in the area have been evacuated.

Sounded like a flash-bang just went off and then 4 volleys of fire - sounded like several different calibers.
And now the PD is telling him to come out and he won't be harmed...

All wrapped up... tear gas and flash bang in the back door - forced him out the front and took him down with a beanbag round... no-one injured.

That is why I live across the tracks in the Ghetto. Aint no crap like that happen here. Last domestic was the solder across the street 2 years ago. He and wife were having a knock-down drag out on the front lawn.

He takes off in the car with her on the hood. She came off when he went around the corner. [Coffee]
