Who has it? Which one? Impressions?

Going to dump the Qurst/Screw Link phone line/DSL at the shop. Just had a local wireless internet provider set up service and now it's time to get rid of the phone line. Currently, I have one phone line, voice mail and call waiting. Not really needing much more. I want to keep the current phone #.

What's the best bang for the buck?

Not sure about keeping your current number but I think you can with magicjack

I have magicjack and it is awesome. I've had it two years. Pays for itself in the first 2 months then its like I is free. 5 years of service cost me $70.

You have to have a computer on for it to work. I have Voicemail and it even emails you a file with the message so I can play it on my phone or another computer or you can call the number and listen as well.

Call quality is good. Even with the $10 vtech phone I bought.

Says you can also use it without a computer ?

I have 2 lines, one is vonage and the other is packet 8, I've had both for 5+ years. Packet 8 has never given me issues, vonage has replaced their router several times over the years, otherwise no complaints. I would do either again in a heartbeat over the local carrier. I have several friends that use magicjack and have nothing to say but great things about it. My only complaint about magicjack is that when someone answers another line or puts you on hold, it plays loud annoying music, however I'm assuming this is configurable.

cheers,
Tim

Researching Magicjack now on magicjacksupport.com. (http://www.magicjacksupport.com/many-problems-with-magic-jack-t10943.html)

Found this pretty funny.

I don't know if this will help but, I just implemented a VOIP system where I work. I ended up choosing an Avaya system. Although we purchased the system they do offer a "pay as you go" service where they host everything.

PM or email me if you want more info, or if I can answer any questions you may have.
