Its been a few years since I was there last.
I'm going to a concert Friday night and I'm wondering how strong their security is... walk-through metal detectors, wands, bag scanners, anything?

Bringing your swiss army knife along?

Wondering if I can bring my EDC stuff or if I should break out the grey weapons.

last time I went it was random wands, no outside beverages and bags checked.

in the pepsi center I leave my knife but take my flashlight.

How long ago was that? What do they seem to base the random wandings on? (nothing is truly random).

If it was TSA, Id say you would be good to go unless you were an elderly person or
a person that is clearly under the age of 9, then they would perform non routine
full body cavity search and make you miss your flight, but in this case your concert. [ROFL1]

been a long time since I've been there, more than a year at least.

but back in the day I'd go quite regularly for mammoth games.

if I was ever wanded, I don't remember it. just remember seeing people there with wands. so I couldn't tell you what they base it off of.

we just left the knives to be on the safe side.

if you really need to know, give them a call.

Wow. Didn't even consider that.

Why don't you like the 3S thing?
Serious question.

Went there a week and a half ago, going again tomorrow night for the Avs vs Blackhawks, it's not that bad, they have wands and usually don't check that hard. I wouldn't bring any weapons in, it even states that on their website: No weapons, outside food/drink, etc.

Grey weapons it is. Thanks!
Though about the last part... I assumed they had a "no weapons" rule. "Rules" aren't what I'm concerned about...
Damn, wish I could be at the game. The concert on Friday cleaned out my fun money for the week.

What concert is it? Not sure if any of you know who this is, but I'll be incomunicado the weekend of Halloween until mid-week- me and brother and some friends are going to Nashville for Pretty Lights on Halloween, then we get to go again for 2 nights of NYE in Denver... speaking of which, is the 1st Bank Center any good? Never been there, but I hear they are the absolute worst with security, it's like a police state there (worse than Red Rocks- they won't let you in with an open cigarette pack!).

Jason Aldean.
Nashville on Halloween? Take pics man.
1st Bank Center is alright. I've only been there once (last Sept.), but it was for the WEC Featherweight Championships so I'd imagine security would be higher than normal shows. I don't remember any metal detectors or anything, just people to scan tickets and check ID's. I got in with my pocket knife (clearly visible sticking out of my pocket).

Jason is AWESOME Live! He really brings his A-Game when he comes to Denver. I've seen him twice at the Grizzly Rose and they both were great shows. Good to see he's finally playing somewhere like the Pepsi Center- I guess being an award winning musician will do that!

Awesome... now I'm looking forward to it even more. He puts out some awesome music, and I've heard (can't find confirmation anywhere) that Brantley Gilbert is opening for him, which makes it that much better.
What all goes down during that thing in Nashville? Sounds like a lot of fun.

We're getting in on Sunday, I'm still waiting on what the best hang around spots are from a buddy from Clarksville. Then for Halloween I don my Hunter S. Thompson costume (minus the .357) and it's a big Electronic Music show featuring a guy named Pretty Lights who's from Fort Collins but is now nationally huge. It's just a lot of really great music (some don't like it, see for yourself, he's all over YouTube), hanging with my best friend/brother, and good fun. Of course the downside is all the "raver" kids that go to those shows too, what with their dilated pupils and pacifiers.

Electronic music in Nashville? Talk about unexpected lol. Never heard of that guy.
Pretty creative idea for a costume. I say bring the .357 and tell people it's a squirt gun... they'd probably believe you [ROFL1]
In any case, it sounds like a good time. I'm not a fan of electronic stuff, but I do appreciate how the girls dress at those shows.

Well I decided to scout it out before hand... hung out off to the side of the doorway for a bit and watched how they were doing things. There's NO security whatsoever... you show them your tickets and walk on in. No wands, bag checks, nothing. Didn't even see any security guards either. I did see 2 cops, but they seemed to be more interested in the show than the crowd.
Ended up just carrying my normal setup.

The show, by the way, was f*cking awesome.
Knowing the photographer for a radio station has its perks (like being front row and whatnot)....

Security protocol for music events are almost always based on the performer's preferences (or their management).

One act could be like mcantar described, and the next could be wands and full pat-downs. Just depends.

I deal with roughnecks on the rigs and they all are tough as nails....most of em at least.....but I have never understood the tough guys listen to country music and almsot exclusivly country and not much of anything else.

What the hell is going on with this trend of hip-hop/country cross overs? Great way to ruin what could have been a good song. (dirt road anthem)

If country music is involved, I can assure you that it more than likely sucks ass.

Dunno, but I've never heard the term "oilfield trash" used lovingly in any other kind of music. Not that I really listen to anything else, but still.

Yeah Aldean is more on the rock side than country, but he's still good. He completely f*cked up Dirt Road Anthem though (in the version they produced anyway, at the concert he sang it a lot closer to the original Colt Ford version which is better IMO).
Agree about the crossovers in general... most of what I listen to is Chris Ledoux and early George Strait, I can't stand a lot of the newer stuff like that one duet that Jason Aldean came out with recently... not even close to country yet they play it on all the stations and people apparently are ok with it.

Lies.
