Welcome to a very expensive club. My collection of 1911s cost considerably more than my car.

I'm sure Rich Richie Rich Wyatt at Gunsmoke would be happy to make you one from a block of steel for oh, say $20K. Would make a nice new episode for his show! Give him a good excuse to fly it to you at the south site in his helichopper too.
Oh, and welcome to the 1911 fetish club!
I never got into 1911's. I just have never found one that "fits" me. However, I have had the privilege to fire several high end ones and man... they are certainly smooth.

Try not to scare the guy with rabid, mutant sticker shock. There are many fine 1911's priced somewhere between "ouch!" and "boooooing!"

it looks like you guys are having fun with it but it really is not my style . "dont start none there wont be none " has been an inner city rule that i not only grew up with but still live by .
anyway ..... when i pull the slide back there seems to be a few ruff spots . shoots just fine but it might shoot even better when its smooth . the question is , do i need parts to make the action smoother or a trip to burts ??

Come see me.........................
I can't own a 1911. I'm way too anal retentive. I end up replacing damn near all of the stock components with nicer stuff and by the time I am done only the frame and slide are original. That being said, I am kind of in the market for another one as we speak. [Coffee]
Maybe another Springfield. Those things are so full of injection-molded metal parts it really gives me an excuse to buy new parts. [Awesom]

Then just build one from new parts- it's like Volkswagons or Harleys, you can build one entirely from parts, and never have a single original part in it, but it'll run quite well.
Ok, this is a major undertaking to build one from all parts- but for me it's the process I enjoyed.
Many of the high-end 1911s are works of art that happen to also be firearms- not sure I could shoot one, let alone carry it.

The 'smith working on it can tell you if it needs any parts- may depend on how smooth you want it... take it to 'bert, if I was closer he'd already have seen the 1911 I built- would like to know where it (and I) need(s) improvement.
any mass-produced pistol can be improved- they are limited on how much time they can spend on machining & polishing and still be competitively priced.

this is why i like the burt , not only the barter system but a few pepsi bucks [Pepsi].

My Les Baer, which is my only 1911, is by far my favorite gun to shoot. Love that trigger.
