Yep. Just found out today, after having everything else done to include pay for the suppressor. He's even refused other cops living here without a letter from their police chief stating it's for official LE duty. I asked why and was told it because, "that stuff gets stolen and falls into the wrong hands.". This is for SBRs, SBSs, suppressors and full autos. He won't sign off on any of them regardless of the persons background. They wouldn't even take the paperwork from me.
Sheriff Dave Weaver Needs to be un-Fn-elected asap. I will actively participate in getting his ass out of the sheriff chair the next election.

He is term limited unless the ballot issue passes to allow him to run an additional term.
And, who did you speak to at the S.O.?

Carl. Ive talked to him there before, but I have never caught his last name.
Thanks for the term info. I will also actively pursue stopping a term limit extension.
You know my background, but I really hate being told I cannot buy a suppressor because of the above. It's simply self-serving and not based on fact.
The thing is that does not surprise me.
Time for you to set up a trust so you dont have to ask him.

"that stuff gets stolen and falls into the wrong hands.".
That stuff gets bought from drug and weapons cartels who ship them over from all types of different countries. They then end up in the wrong hands with absolutely nothing to do with the law abiding citizens who spend months upon months and sometimes thousands of dollars doing it the right way; just to let the government know "hey, I have this, but as you can see, I have no criminal record, so you'll never hear about it again, because, as I mentioned, I'm not a dang criminal."
Bull crap, brother. I don't live in DC, but let us know if there is a petition or anything we can sign to do anything at all.

Help us poor Adams county people out too. I hear he will not sign either. Heck, he even puts off his end of the CCW paperwork as long as he is legally allowed to do so.

That's funny. When's the last time you heard of some crazy guy killing people with supressed weapons in Castle Rock.
If it's suppressed, you wouldn't. :D

Oh snap.
We have the same problem with our sheriff in Adams County (Douglas Darr). In fact he is the same person who spearheaded the crusade to stand against Colorado becoming a "shall issue" state.
Setting up a trust is infinitely easier and you can do it fairly inexpensively. Talk to Brian R. (fellow USPSA shooter) about it.
Living in Boulder (where the sheriff will readily sign off on things), it was just too easy for me to go the CLEO-sign-off route. That said, had I to do it over, I'd have set up a trust, even though I live in a county that will sign the forms. In the long run, a sheriff that won't sign might just be a blessing in disguise.

You should be happy to know that Douglas County Question 1A lost 30,294 to 19,853, so Sheriff Weaver is term limited to the end of his current election. I just can't remember how long he has been in his second term, so I don't know when a new Sheriff will be elected.
Just imagine the PC BS that one would have to put up with if regular ol gun sales needed a LEO sign off?
Why in the hell is anyone doing individual's these days? It's stupid! Do a trust or even easier a Corp or LLC.
With a Corp or Trust, there is no LEO sign off, no passport photo, and no fingerprints. You submit you Corp or trust paperwork along with your ATF Forms (1 or 4) and Cert of Compliance, with your $200.00. It's easy and you don't have to wait a month or two for some BS CLEO to approve or disapprove your ATF forms.
A Corp/LLC in Colorado costs (was $25.00) $50.00 to form initially and $10.00/year to maintain annually (if you submit electronically through the Secretary of State's website). With a trust you may have to put up $600-$800 to form it (if you go through a lawyer).
The biggest upside of this is no anti-gun, BS, liberal, authoritarian Sheriff can tell you what you can and can't own. F*** Them!
If you are interested in forming a Corp or LLC in Colorado, go here (http://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/business/forms_main.html#LLC). It'll take you 10 mins to fill out the online form and cost you (was $25.00) $50.00. If you want any more advise or have any questions on this, PM or post here.
WTH! I paid $50 a year ago. I got ripped off.

Four years ago I paid $25 to start an LLC (electronically via the SOS's website). The price may have increased since. I did try to find the pricing on that site before posting, but no joy.
ETA: Ok, I found a fee schedule on the CO SOS site and apparently the cost has gone up (probably one of Ritter's fee increases). Fee Schedule (http://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/info_center/fees/business.html).

What a joke, Libtard boulder county will sign off on a form 4 but Douglas county wont. I just called and talked to Weavers whomeverthefuck and he said the same thing, they get stolen or fall into the wrong hands yadda yadda. I'll turn it over to my trust, piss on em.
I like Weaver as a guy in general. But he is a total penis about NFA stuff
Hmm.. Seems my comments on Weaver were lost in the great crash of 2011.. Basically when he was campaigning I asked him point blank if he would sign my forms if he was elected. He went on to tell me about all the NFA stuff he owns personally and that he would be very NFA friendly. Couple days after he was elected I went to see him with some papers and he refused saying that kind of 'heavy firepower' didn't belong in his county and that no one needed 'that kind of stuff'. When I pressed him on his obvious double standard he said 'If you want to play with guns you should join the military or become a cop - citizens don't need that kind of stuff'.. I am glad he's term limited.

Should have elected my grandpa (Frank Carrillo) when he ran. Darr is an A**hole! He is the Sherriff that once said "I'm too busy to discuss citizen safety".
