New Radar Can See Through Walls
Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a new kind of radar technology that could help soldiers by allowing them to see through solid walls. Radar, a method of detecting the position, movement, and nature of a remote object by means of reflected radio waves, is often impeded by concrete, which largely blocks the waves. However, by using short waves known as S-band waves and powerful signal amplifiers, the MIT team was able to get the signal to penetrate concrete and cinder-block walls and generate real-time videos of people moving behind them.
