Like the title says, I have a 1998 Trans Am I need to ship out here. Weighs approximately 3k lbs.

It will be going from Glasgow, Ky (42141) to Colorado Springs, Co (80910).

I will be paying in cash. I'd prefer not to go through a broker and work directly with the driver or company. I would also prefer open transport to keep the cost down. The car runs and drives.

I have a thread on Yellowbullet.com where I've gotten some good recommendations but I thought it would be best to shop local as well.

I see you've had prices from $12-1500. I shipped 3 cars and 2 motorcycles about a year ago from the Northeast.

I didn't pay $1500 for enclosed transport....we had our daily drivers shipped with DAS. My wife's company paid, but I think it was $800 a car for the 2000 mile trip. these were open transport- other car and bikes were enclosed

we had a good experience with DAS. they even detailed the cars upon arrival

Thanks for the tip. I checked with DAS and they want me to have it dropped off in Nashville and picked up in Denver. It's pretty much a track only drag car that can only handle short road trips so I'm looking for immediate area pick up and drop off.

2XS, I have it on uship but some of the quotes I'm seeing on there are just insane. There's been one or two reasonable ones I may take up later on if I can't find anything better.

give them a call and talk to them live. They did a door to door for us. I know their website has drop off and pick up locations, but they do pick up at a residence.

If you don't trust Ridge driving it back, I think there a few long haul truckers here that you could see if they could haul it back if they are stoping a load near where it is at.

Pfft, I drifted my FWD Chevy Cavalier around the I-25N to US-6W interchange a couple months ago :)

Too bad it is a drag car and can't drive the distance back. I fly for free and might be willing to go get it and bring it back but it sounds like that is out of the question.

Only shipping company I have dealt with was in the west/southwest.

maybe check ebay...just look at a vehicle for sale and there should be shipping options.

other thing is to call a shipping broker

I'm considering this as I continue to type the message.

I think someone wanting to drive the car out would have to be straight crazy to attempt it.

I've never checked the mileage on it but we're talking a gutted car with no cage, 3 gears, 12"s worth of exhaust off the headers, no heat, no ac, no radio, and a nice hefty rear gear. It turns 5,000 RPM at 75 mph. I would guess 6-8 mpg at those speeds? For 1,200 miles? Premium only? You would be cursing me all the way back to my conception after the first hour.

Oh and Ridge, I came to my decision. It was a tough one. Thanks for the offer though.

JoeT, nothing personal towards you but:

**** DAS (Depandable Auto Shippers) and ALL they represent!!

Do not, I repeat, do NOT use DAS for anything. Ever. Ever ever. That whole outfit can die from dysentery and I wouldn't even feel bad.
