So had a deal on armslist this week. I posted my G23 on here this week. Had a member want to buy. The same time a CZ that I wanted came up on armslist. Told him the deal that the G23 would be done tonight if the sale went thru. Then I would let him know ASAP on the sale. This was his response to me.....

If your guy on the 23 doesn’t work out, that would also be good, then we could trade.  I will take your word, and will hold you in first position, that is, I would give you first right if another buyer steps up to the plate.  I appreciate your communication.

So.....tonight came. G23 sold and I emailed him within 35 mins to work out a time to meet to do the deal on the CZ. This was his response...

Neal, I know you’re going to be disappointed with the news I have.  A young man from castle rock called me on the cz last night and we got to talking.  Long story short he offered to pay my price on both guns I had for sale, and give the 380 to his wife.  I just couldn’t pass up a sure sale on both.  It was all over by noon.  I apologize Neal, because I think you are a stand up guy, and I had no intention of selling this out from under you.

I didn't know he had 2 firearms for sale at this time...

So am I outta line for being upset?? It's really not that big of deal money wise, but to me it's the word!

I really appreciate everyone on here I have done biz with!! [Beer]

Make a mental note about the seller and move on. Not worth getting mad about for more than a few minutes unless you knew the guy personally.

I don't want it to be a who knows who post. I am saying that the guys here have been way better in the sales dept than anywhere. I think that's cool, cause you seem to be held responsible for your actions here!!....

Hmmmm. Move on and don't worry about it. Make a mental checkmark about the seller and... oh well.

Yup guys I'm over it! Just wanted to pass on my experience. I'll run over to Jensen Arms and get it next week for a few bucks more and put some $ back in the local economy! [Beer]

Armslist is like my breakfast cereal, if you take out the fruits and the nuts, all you're left with is the flakes...

This place IS top notch and everyone has been true to their word. I had a guy wanting to buy something from me here. It didn't workout, but we had excellent communication, so no feelings were hurt.

Something my dad taught me a long time ago. My word is worth more than any gun I have ever sold/bought.

Isn't Armslist the one where members have to pay a membership fee guaranteeing worry-free transactions?

No, armsllist is craigslist for guns and its people sometimes act worse than Craigslist.

Amen!

I was unaware of this and sold a couple firearms on armslist and the shite I had to answer and respond to was whack, WORSE than craigslist people. Refuse to deal with either in the last year.

What I hate about both craigslist and armslist. You list at a good reasonable price and people still low ball you beyond belief. Feel like I am in a Mexican outdoor market.

The last sale listing on Armslist was an item that everywhere I looked (local shops, online sellers) were selling for $1000 at the lowest, I list for $800 as I had no paperwork for authentication and some annoying person tells me I am crazy for trying at that price, no one will buy it for that and offered me $200 less than I asked, ........go eat a brick dude, leave me alone............I actually sold the item for what I wanted and more to a C&R FFL collector in another state. We talked on the phone and he was surprised I was selling it so low and offered me a little more for my time and hassle if I sent it to him ( i said no out of state sales in my listing.) That is the last thing I will sell on Armslist ever.

Armslist jackholes can be a pain. But, I have to say I've had better luck with buyers on Armslist than I have with CoGunMkt.

Sellers...suck on both sites for the most part.

The guys here have been 100% top-notch reliable in my experience.

Tread lightly with folks on ARMSLIST. I dont hold their word as anything higher the what an Ant can lift above their head. YMMV

I've had decent luck on Armslist - main problem seems to be those who will engage in dialog, then just disappear.

But it's definitely a an environment that requires a keen sense for BS.

Your funny.......

It wasn't the fact they low-balled me, it is how they did it and then stocked me for a week.

(never gave me his name in the email)
Them: "Can I get detailed pictures of the receiver and stock?"

Me: Sure sent, let me know. (phone number)

Them: "I have some concerns over this and that.............. I really dont think it is worth what you are asking for it. Will you go lower?

Me: what would you offer?

Them: "$600 I dont think it is worth more."

Me: no thanks, thank you for your interest.

Them: Okay, but I don't think your going to get want your asking.

3 days in a row every night: "You still have it?" I just ignored all the emails.

I made a mistake of putting my cell # in the email to him. He randomly called and since he never gave me his name in the email I didn't know it was him and called him back and he was "you sell it yet? My offer stands at $600 and will even drive to your house to pick it up." I said sorry I am not going that low.
He left me one other message but I ignored that and emailed me again with his offer a couple days later. I was in a deal with this C&R FFL collector in georgia. I replied to him once and said I sold it for this, got what I wanted and more. Thank you for your interest. never heard from them again.

My favorite question is "What is the least you will take for ITEM X?" That is not how you negotiate. I always want to say "That depends, what is the most you will pay for it?" ha ha

I've had pretty much the same experience on armslist with th exception of one. I listed a 1300 defender with a bunch of goodies for my computer illiterate buddy. He wanted $300 but would've taken $250 for an easy close to home deal, still got lowballed...$100-$150 offers Changed the ad to "make a reasonble offer"... got my buddy well over $300 for it.

I get frustrated when someone posts a firearm on that site and you make them a reasonable offer ($25-$50 under what the post is asking for the weapon) and they bite your head off. Like their "NIB Glock" is a one of kind relic from a former era.

I understand that is what they are going for in a retail store or local shop. You dont have the overhead they do and you cant prove to me with 100% cetainty that it actually is in fact new in the box.

Furthermore, if there is a price you absolutly have to get for your firearm then you should have included "firm" in your asking price. If I dont see firm in the description I just assume there is at least a little wigle room on the price. Maybe that is just me but I ALWAYS assume Im going to get talked down at least a little when dealing with Armslist/Craigslist folk and include a little buffer in my orig. asking price.

I love the ads over there that state..."If you do not hear back from me, that means I wasn't interested." That mentality pisses me off. How about the decency to at least acknowledge that you received the email so I do not keep sending it over and over again thinking that something is wrong with my email. Jerks.......
