So the wife and I are both graphic designers ... and both over competitive.

We each carve a pumpkin for Halloween and I'm at a loss this year as to what to do with mine.

Anyone got any good ideas? And no, my skills are nowhere near Ray Villafane's. (http://villafanestudios.com/gallery/the-pumpkins-2) So keep the ideas doable with kitchen knives

I like the "big pumpkin eating little pumpkin" one. Did it last year.

I'm leaning toward a stylized Angler fish ... just trying to figure out how to do the light on the pole part.

Here is the baby I did last year. Sorry for the repost. It turned out really well. I tried to do a similar one this year that didn't turn out as well. This will expand your design ideas to infinity, as well as your color scheme. Good luck; it takes forever. Just need a spoon and a knife.

I'll post the pictures in a step by step for you.

I'm leaning toward a stylized Angler fish ... just trying to figure out how to do the light on the pole part.

Try a pipe cleaner from your gun cleaning kit, go to radio shack and pick up a small LED and holder, a load resistor, small spool of #22 wire, a 9 volt battery connector and of course a 9 volt transistor battery. And whala a light on a bendable stick.

Actually I found an old flashlight light bulb in the junk drawer ... soldered some wires to it and ran it to a D Cell ... so even simpler (and not as bright ... just want the bulb to glow, not shine real bright)

Tomorrow we do the carving so then I'll probably use some coat hanger wire with the bulb and wire taped to it (wrapped in electrical tape to give it some bulk and a more organic shape).

Of course I'll be posting photos.

So here's my Anglerfish-O-Lantern. Not 100% happy with it but it looks better in person than in pics. Looks pretty cool in the dark though.

The wife did a pretty cool Tiki-O-Lantern though.
