I'll be the first in-line to spend "too much" for fine food and drink and never complain. That said; I don't eat fast food...I just don't, very few instances where I have in the past ~20 years. An occasional Sub here and there but that's about it.

Was desperate this morning for some grub though and I stopped into a Wendy's drive thru. Two small sodas, one double cheeseburger, 1 single cheeseburger and one large fry, that was it...and it was over $16.00 bucks! Holy gawd...has all "junk food" become this pricey?

You gotta know how to work the system, man. You could have had just as much food off the dollar menu for half the price.

That's too much. Did you check your receipt? The chili is always good to go at Wendys.

I guess that's the price you pay when you don't want your food to be made of mystery meat.

You must have ordered one of their huge, deluxe burgers, or one of there "fancy" sandwhiches or something similar. Those can cost almost as much as something from SmashBurger, or as was already mentioned, Five Guys, etc.

I concur with the dollar menu folks.

However, I will agree with you that stuff is just dang pricey nowadays.

you can have twice the food for half the cost no problem. often at these places two of their value burgers equals more than a regular burger and is cheaper. also, never, ever, ever buy soft drinks from fast food places, or really places in general. theyre a huge rip off. at wendys i can get a fry, two cheeseburgers, a chicken sandwich and some chicken nuggets for around $5.

the down side to dollar menus that people never realize is that in order to offset that cost a little, their "deluxo" burgers and sandwiches are a bit more expensive. play the system!

wendys in colorado springs has pretty much done away with the dollar menu from what ive seen. the 99 cent jr bacon cheeseburger is 1.59 now, their 99 cent fry is 1.39 and their dollar frosty is like 1.69. my normal 4.26$ meal (2 jr bacons, 1 fry, 1 frosty) is now almost 7$ with tax. needless to say, i dont go to wendys anymore.

Stu - Nah man, I didn't look at the receipt (too stoopid and in a rush...paid, drove & ate).

"Work the system." "Know how to leverage the dollar menu." "Never buy a soda..." Damn...way too much effort for a simpleton like...[Tooth]

Tried 5 Guys once......ONCE. Over priced, over hyped and the fries where nothing to sing about. Just a bunch of Hipsters falling for the scene.
If you have not been there, save your cash. Nothing new you can't duplicate in the backyard.
Red Robin....close to $40 for three people. Never again.
Culvers! That's the place for value and quality.
Kids meal even get a ice cream desert!

My son and I went to Smashburger on 120th when it opened. Good food but around $20 and change for just the 2 of us.

Oh yeah, sodas at most ANY place are the big money-makers. Most folks don't even think about it, but their mark-up is awful.

Something ain't right here. My wife and I eat lunch together every Wednesday and this last wed we went to Wendy's we got two single cheeseburger combos (so 2 burgers, 2 small sodas, 2 small drinks) and it was $11 and change (and when they have the singles on sale you can get them under $10).

Combos and value menus really shave off the extra cash.

This.

Those were my sentiments exactly. I got home, ate the food and said to my wife "Its not bad... but its not better than anything else, and I think I would have rather gone to Good Times."

The fries were bland, and the burger was just O.K. Way too expensive for bland and O.K.

Guess I'm lucky. The local grocery store deli does great cheeseburger combos for $6. The pizza place has a cheeseburger sub for cheap. The "good" restaurant in town has a big burger platter for around $11. [Dinner]

Why do I want to go eat fast food? [Dunno]

Same here in Canon City. Could feed the family for $12 on the dollar menu, but now looks like McDonalds is the only one to keep a dollar menu!

Never buy soda or fries. That's my rule. If they are free, I'll usually eat them, but I won't pay for them. Well, I will for soda, but NEVER fries.

Yeap, I agree! I eat a Wendy's frequently and that price sounds excessive.

I agree.
Wendy's dollar menu or 99cent menu is more like 1.59.
Do I blame Wendy's for it? NO>

I blame it on federal/treasury on excessive money supply.
