View Full Version : My Extreme Animal Phobia
So I saw the first episode of this show on the Animal Planet. I wanted to see that Mexican gang banger cry like a bitch over having to pet that puppy.
Anyway, it seemed to me that the whole show was shot with actors. Anyone want to take bets on how long until it is busted for being fake?

People or many Americans are seriously turning in to grade A pussies
Very sad that people have lost their ability to be a strong person and not be a pussy. [Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang]
I believe in phobias, but these people were clearly actors.
Hey now... I almost dispatched a spider with a 45......

There always have been and always will be pussies in the world. There will also always be warriors and real men in society to do the things that keep society running, that the pussies won't do.
What's sad is that the pussies are gaining (have gained?) power in media and politics and now we have influences like this show that basically glorify being one.

More to what I was trying to convey. Thanks [Beer]
What the hell are you guys talking about? You don't believe that there is such a thing as a phobia?

Such thing as a phobia? Sure. A phobia that can't be overcome? No.
I don't believe there's anything that can't be overcome with enough willpower and determination.
If I was scared chitless of butterflies (believe it or not I know a gal who is), I would feel like a complete pussy and would do everything I could to overcome that fear and eventually, I would no longer be scared of them.
Instead of the Adapt and Overcome attitude, our society has taken the "its ok/good to be different" crap to extremes and come to nurture characteristics that are very far out of the norm... things like having a phobia of puppies, a boy that wants to be a girl and join the girl scouts, and other things I won't mention because it would completely derail the thread.
If you had actually watched the show that the thread is about, you would have known that everyone in the episode over comes their phobia. That's the entire point of the show in fact. Not just highlighting people's phobias.
That's not at all the point of this thread though. It is that I didn't find any of the people believable and thought they were all actors.

If I had a TV, I might have checked it out.
The previews made it look like fun to laugh at people with extreme phobias (like Horders), but it was way too fake for me. You haven't missed anything.

I get that impression about most of the crap currently on television... hence getting rid of my TV. The few shows I do watch I can find for free whenever I want on Hulu, no point paying ridiculous amounts a month for something I don't really use.
I wish we watched less TV. Me having to listen to Dancing With the Stars seriously starts fights at my house because it puts me in such a foul mood.
Spiders and wasps freak me the hell out.
Yup I said it
I don't know about getting over a phobia... I'm terrified that our current Administration will get re-elected and Pelosi will win the majority leadership back... I'll have to switch to a cheaper whiskey to ease the pain.
Anyway, it seemed to me that the whole show was shot with actors.
I was thinking the same thing the entire time I watched it.

So TV is a waste but you'll type up several comments on an internet gun forum discussion about a TV show? Makes sense to me.

Was the word "Dramatization" put up on the screen ? If so, then yes they were all actors portraying the subjects.

The part of the discussion I was involved in didn't really have much to do with the TV show itself. Regardless, I don't really see your point.

If seen those shows like ER shows and such that clearly are actors trying to reenact the story but this is made to be like an actual recording of these people who supposedly have phobias but they're just silly. It's clearly made to not look like actors acting out scripts. But seriously, who's that afraid of puppies... regardless of if it's a pit or a rottie or a chow... it's a cute little puppy!

The discussion is about a TV show specifically. If you haven't seen the show in question how are you able to comment? You can try to argue all you want but it seems a little silly to even be involved. I don't get involved in discussions between women about giving birth or making sandwiches.

Its possible that its the real people and they reenacted their therapy after the fact (otherwise you'd have to shoot footage of a lot of people that fail at overcoming their phobias).
As for fear of cute puppies, that's just sad. In the same way little kids that can't eat Ice Cream because of lactose intolerance is sad.
Hey now... I almost dispatched a spider with a 45......
at least you spelled it right this time...when you made your name you messed it up![Tooth]
Humans are strange creatures, 'bout the only way I can put it. I have a SIL that's scared totally ****less of June bugs, for crying out loud. I mean terrified of them! But only June bugs. Guy that lives next door will piss down both legs if he sees a garter snake while he's mowing his yard. Only thing I'm really bad about is claustrophobia.

Kinda... I would have ran over that big ass spider with my spyder (3000 GT). [Driver]
One of my kid's coworkers (a 6 ft 3, 240 lb Sheriff's Deputy) is deathly afraid fo ALL dogs. Even my girls (13 and 15 lb shihtzus that are about as threatening as bunny slippers...even cats don't run from 'em).
