Either the Mossberg 500/590 or the Remington 870. Both affordable, both go boom when you need them to.

Why dont you be a little more specific?
You want someone to pick a gun for you and tell you what to buy?
Do you ask recommendations on what to eat for dinner?
This thread and title are just silly. Are you in that much of a rush? Would you like a reply that matches the length of your post?
If you want an honest recommendation, dont listen to what people tell you over the internet. Get to a gun store and hold a few.
See what you like, pump, semi-auto, adjustable or fixed stock, pistol grip.
What ammo, you live in a house or trailer, you have kids, how long is the longest hall. What kind of ammo should you use.
Get to a gun store. Try some out.
You would be surprised on the amount of information on the internet.

I gave two basic shotguns that worked for me. But I went to the dealer and got the feel for them before I considered them.
The ammo is as important if not more than the gun itself, don't wanna have your neighbors getting you arrested from a stray pellet or whatever killing their dog, or godforbid their kid.
Just go shopping, find what you like, then shoot it to get the feel of it, then look into the appropriete ammo for what you need.

Remington 870, or a saiga with a drum if you don't think anything less than 30 rounds will do it for you.

in case you didn't notice, this is the internet. and why wouldn't someone go to a gun forum to ask opinions. obviously i didn't say i wanted to buy it now, site unseen. You've never asked someones opinion of a restraunt or a gun?

I think I am going to persue the Maverick 88 8-shot Sercruity Model. Most gun stores have them for $199.99. Almost all parts from a mossberg 500 will fit these so they can be accersorized if you want to.
After doing some research I chose the 20'' bbl. 8 shots would be plenty for a home defense and I would not have to spend extra money on getting a side saddle for extra shells. My plan is to add sling mount and a sling, 00 buckshot and thats it. The only other thing I might do is a tri rail to throw a light on it. Other that it will sit in and probably only get used every now and then.

how do you like the 930?
OP,
one issue you need to resolve with the 870/500 choice is the location of the safety. some like the remington safety on the trigger guard. some prefer the safety on the top like the mossberg (like me). otherwise, there isn't a gnat's ass difference between them--if you decide to go with a pump.

I went ahead and got the Maverick 88 18.5 BBL model at Sports Authority in Greeley. Came out to $218.02 with tax and a box of 5 00 Buckshot. Think it was a pretty decent deal.

In case YOU didnt notice, (and Im sure you didnt due to lack of search) there are literally HUNDREDS of threads asking the SAME thing you did.
Youre right, this is the internet, which means the information is plentiful, however that information is concealed under the "SEARCH" button.
Youre thread was vague and lacked proper grammar or any kind of agenda excluding you wanted it for HD, and you expect people to help you and give you any kind of intellectual answer when you cant even take the time to write out a proffesional title or post.
Yes I have asked opinions, after I did research for myself and went through an elimination process, that was AFTER I decided I wanted the gun for in the first place...
Your thread is nothing new, I have seen it alot, in fact I see it on a weekly basis, over and over. Not only that but your response also is nothing new.
Trey searching man. You will be amazed at the information thats out there if you put in a little work
