View Full Version : Resident with green card ccw?
From what I read in CO law, it appears that a resident with a green card can get a permit. And yes federal law allows a person with a green card to legally own a firearm.
Does anyone know if Colorado allow someone with a green card to conceal carry?

I purchased multiple firearms when I was a green card holder. I had my first CCW when I was still a political asylee and no green card. The law said legal residence. So yes to your question.
If you are a legal resident, have appropriate proof of training, and can pass an FBI background check, you should be able to get your Colorado permit. US citizenship is not a requirement.

I have a buddy from Canada that is here on a Green Card and he has a CO CCW permit. As others have stated, it's not a problem as long as you meet the other requirments.
Sounds fishy to me though- what if they have a criminal record in Mexico but the background can't access that? I have no problem with law abiding folks, whether they're legal citizens or not, owning and carrying guns. As long as no nefarious acts are about to go down and make us 2a lovers look bad.

If you have a criminal record anywhere in the world, you won't be holding onto US Visa nor resident card.
Wife is from Canada. Just checking in case I can ever talk her into packing. She can be a bit naive about the world.

you have a little bit of foot there... in your mouth.
as previously stated, if you have any sort of legal actions against you anywhere in the world, you wont get a US Visa.
So you might consider recanting the "Legal" part...
I Agree with the Illegals not having firearms as they have already shown a disregard for the Laws of this country.
However, having resided in 4 different countries... my wife has had more background investigations than most soldiers.

There are a handful of states that deny what are otherwise "shall issue" permits for legal residents on the basis of their lack of citizenship.
I think that is going to be held unconstitutional. Its pretty clear under current USSCt precedent that you can't discriminate among people who can legally reside here based on citizenship for all but a few narrow purposes - usually offices like law enforcement, judges, etc.

So, is your wife a citizen or or not?
You left it kinda vague.
