View Full Version : suggestions for new neighborhood?
Ok,
short story: go out to load up for elk hunting to find someone crippled my Jeep while trying to steal it. Called in earlier this morning to report someone had been in my backyard looking in the windows/casing my house yesterday.
harder thing to swallow-I work from home, am moderately paranoid, know habits/patterns of most of the neighbors/dog walkers/local traffic. I failed.
the bright side to this- even more momentum for moving, Looking into someplace like Coal Creek Canyon, Genesee, or ?...need a reasonable commute to near the Jeffco airport.
Is there a COAR planned community?
Broomfield and Westminster are right next to Jeffco.

Will you have someone staying @ your home while you're away elk hunting? If so, ensure they're armed and keep all windows and doors locked 24/7.
My wife hates it, but I have frosting over the windows in/around my front door and keep my blinds/curtains pulled by the time it starts getting dark outside so no one can see in (no annoying little gaps they can use to view through either).
I'm in Broomfield (136th and Sheridan) Good neighborhood, real quiet...there's also at least 1 other CO-AR15er in the neighborhood, I've seen the sticker that cant be spoken on a car window leaving the area a couple times

until you move there are motion sensor lights for outdoors that also record the area when activated. I think sam's club carries some.

Is there a COAR planned community?there is always room in 5 points for another gun owner [LOL]
sorry to hear about the jeep .
thanks guys....to make it even more confounding...have motion sensor spotlights aimed exactly at the parking place, and the jeep is only about 30 ft away from where I sleep....guess I should learn to sleep with both eyes open. This time, I'm sure it was during mid-day that it happened.
Superior does seem nice, would like to be further away from people though, I lived in Golden before the tract home virus spread and liked it, Broomfield seems like a great investment about 18 mo ago, i've seen some appealing places around Conifer but the perma-road construction is maddening, maybe the crews they hire should use power tools? Maybe I'm just getting older and crankier?
Realized today- that living in Cherry Creek North(2x), Capital Hill (0), and NW Denver(4) LoDo(1)- I have been robbed in Denver 7 times. slow learner I guess.
I guess the leading example our president and cohorts is setting is being followed by the masses!
Perhaps you have failed to learn that people don't stay in the ghetto to steal.. the nice **** is in the 'good' neighborhoods.
you should invest in a motion sensing sentry gun!

You've been robbed 7 times?! That's some serious bad luck!

yep you got it monkey [Beer]
I live in an area with lots of retired folks. Nothing gets by them. Some have trouble sleeping, and some are pretty nosy. Small price to pay for a fairly safe neighborhood.

Lawn Mower.
This leaves me feeling highly pissed on one hand and wanting to weep for the nation on the other. Had this conversation with a friend last week. Rode with him down to the Dewalt Svc Center on Mississippi. Never really noticed it before but it caught my eye. Their windows and doors are barred up like a lot of gun shops. Which made me look at their neighbors who all had the same thing. We then headed down to On Track. Same thing. That whole area reminded me of South America and Africa. How long before we start seeing this state side?

And all because we as a society have allowed twisted progressive thought to overwhelm our better judgement in the name of tolerance. Raising generations who feel good about themselves with no respect for boundaries because they had "enlightened" parents who didn't believe you punish bad behavior. You talk about it like namby pamby wusses.

Start? The duPont Children's Hospital in Wilmington Delaware has that kind of broken glass wall around the entire site.
Of course, that's because years back the fence was to keep the inbred duPont kids within the grounds, not to keep people out.

Get out of the city. I have a longer commute but the only thing that sets off motion sensors here is the wildlife. Left my garage door open for about 48 hours one weekend by mistake when we left town and nothing was a miss when a buddy stopped by to use my driveway to change his oil.
