On every other forum i've been a member of, there has always been a thread devotin to chewin tabaccer. I guess dippers just like talkin about dip [ROFL1]

So any on on here chew or dip? I'm a die hard copenhagen guy myself. Been addicted to this awful stuff for around 3 years now

Oh i know it. I quit for 6 months for an ex gilfriend. And man, were those first two weeks hell.

I know i should quit. I just know i won't quit for good unless I'm quitting for my own reasons, instead of for someone else.

I actually just got a can of Black. Its ok, i like it once in a while. Nothing will ever replace original long cut though!

Recently quit after nearly 27 years of habitual use. Wish I could have quit about twenty years ago. Once I made it past the first couple of months without killing anyone it was pretty easy after that.

But, if you were asking about my drug of choice, it was Skoal fine-cut wintergreen for many years and then switched to Copenhagen long-cut when it came out.

I had one guy who was my trainee and he spilled a spit bottle all over the computers.
I was a bit irrate. Thank god I was able to run the job with one computer and he spent 16 hoursround trip to go bakc to the office in Casper to south of Vernal to fetch us a new computer.

I chewed in HS and a bit in the Navy, but never got into dipping.

Oh i know it aint the ORIGINAL cope, but i just can't get used to chewin snuff. I said "original long cut" because they make a few different long cuts now.

Yeah I chewed him a good one, but the worst part for him was me allowing him
to take a 3 hour nap and told him i expected him back in aorund 14 hours.
He was dead when he got back.

Wasnt a rookie dipper, he grw up on a farm and roughnecked etc. Just nervous I guess
at learning the new job for him.

I end up spilling one every few months, and its always cause I'm doing something stupid and not paying attention. Last one was while welding on a buddy's Jeep, reached up to put my hood down and for some reason I had set my spitter down next to my head (laying down).

Dripped cope long cut for years. Had to quit. I was treating it as a food group. I love dipping , so now I mix it up. Camel snuss blue and nicotine gum. Not at the same time. The snuss is awesome. Just a hint of nicotine, and great minty flavor that lasts hours. And no spitting required.

There's a website out there, I think its called kickthecan.com or something. Alot of stories and motivation to quit on that site, or so i'm told.

I wasn't trying to be funny and am not trying to start trouble. I realize it's your choice but feel it's a bad choice for your long-term health and one you may come to regret. I've feel that this community is like a 2nd family and this is the same thing I would do for family since I care about the decisions they make. I've seen your avatar & wonder why you would love it so much that you would even advertise their product for free in all of your posts but that's your choice. Choose to believe it or not but that's what happens when you chew tobacco and I would hate to see anyone here go through that or worse. I guess if someone chewses (see what I did there?) to spark a debate with the pros to chewing tobacco that's one thing but I have no plans to debate as I feel it would be pretty one-sided.

That is all. I'll remove myself from the conversation and say that if even one person here considers quitting then it was worth it. Carry on.

Well i completely understand what you are tryin to do now. And i'll admit it, i appreciate someone i've never met caring. Thats really cool of you man.

With that said, yes i do like to chew, and yes i do fully understand the risks involved. I do plan to quit sometime in the near future (like everyone else haha), its just not that time yet.

Anyway, i hope your post does get someone to quit. I truely do. I'll be the first to admit that its a nasty and awful habit. And no hard feelings at all man, i hope you feel the same way.

I started chewing in 5th grade Hawkin if I remember right. Started smoking in 10th grade to quit chewin. Smokin and chewin until 11th grade. Stopped chewing and kept smoking until 1992 when I was up to 2 packs of non filtered Camles a day. Whent cold turkey and now just drink Beer! Gota have one bad habbit! [Beer]

Did it for many years and quit once.

Never looked back, never missed it. Just decided I didn't want to do it anymore and threw the crap away. That was about 20 years ago.

Just like smoking; the only ones I know who were REALLY successful at quitting just threw them away and stopped. No patches, no gum, no drugs, no crutches. But the secret is that you really have to want to quit.
