I am just going over my BOB setup and was wondering if it is legal to conceal my rifle in my pack? I don't really want to be OC a rifle. I have both a CO CCW and a FL CCW and on the CO it says "Conceal Handgun Permit" as apposed to the FL that say "Concealed Weapon of Firearms License." The FL gives me the right to carry what ever weapon I want, in FL of course, but the CO CCW seems to limit one to just handguns. Does anyone know of a law that prohibits one from concealing a rifle on their person?
Thanks

18-12-204. Permit contents - validity - carrying requirements.
(2) (a) A permittee, in compliance with the terms of a permit, may carry a concealed handgun as allowed by state law. The permittee shall carry the permit, together with valid photo identification, at all times during which the permittee is in actual possession of a concealed handgun and shall produce both documents upon demand by a law enforcement officer.
Also:
18-12-105. Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon - unlawful possession of weapons.
(1) A person commits a class 2 misdemeanor if such person knowingly and unlawfully:
(b) Carries a firearm concealed on or about his or her person;
(c) A person who, at the time of carrying a concealed weapon, held a valid written permit to carry a concealed weapon issued pursuant to section 18-12-105.1, as it existed prior to its repeal, or, if the weapon involved was a handgun, held a valid permit to carry a concealed handgun...
I probably should add that a rifle would be OK in a vehicle as long as it's unloaded. Just not concealed on your person.

I have never found anything about having a rifle broken down in a backpack.
I have done this alot, the mag is in a separate pocket, and the upper/lower separated.
I dont see why that would be illegal

Ya. I read it.
What does it say about broken down in a bag....nothing.
There is NOTHING anywhere about carrying a rifle broken down in a bag.
I have searched this topic before, for the past few years.
I can see if you had a rifle slung and concealed under a coat or hoodie, As far as a bag, its more like "Transport" than CCW really.

This is a good point. How many times does one carry a rifle to and from the range "concealed".
I would say if it is broken down, then you are transporting and not concealing.

Maybe it's just me but that seems pretty clear. And loaded has nothing to do with anything in Colorado so keeping the magazine separate is a non-issue. And the original question dealt with carrying a rifle as a concealed carry gun...not transporting it to/from a range. I think a little common sense is in order here, too, when thinking totality of the circumstances.
If you're "transporting" a rifle in a case from your car to a shooting range so the gun can't be seen you're most likely on private property as opposed to public property. In your car it's also a non-issue.
ar-15 pistol...
problem solved
