It appears that there are some administrative shenanigans going on. It is kind of looking like a pissing match between the guys at www.ar-15.com

Viewing on Firefox, the bookmarked link was www.co-ar15.com (http://www.co-ar15.com). Not it appears as a redirect to www.ar-15.co (http://www.ar-15.co)

I feel your pain. Data flushing and moving sucks.

It's been ar-15.co since November 2011. Why firefox is doing that is beyond me, it's still a 302 temporary redirect.

I never could get access to co-ar15's domain control to update domain servers. It's irrevocable pointed at the (2007-2011) server. I provided ar-15.co in November so that the site itself did not disappear.

At this point, it's up to Marlin / managers what they want to do there. If we can get access to co-ar15 then the whole site can be moved back soon. If people prefer ar-15.co then it can stay forever.

I would recommend updating your bookmarks though. It hasn't been @ co-ar15 for quite awhile I've just been holding your hands ;)

Thanks for that information Foxtrot. Today is the first time that the redirect is evident. It could be a Firefox issue. When I was trying over the weekend, it was almost looking like Ar-15.com had bought the URL to spite you guys.

Curious as to why you guys would want to confuse the user with the similar URL's?

No "shenanigans". Data loss. Read thread in Announcements. It's been a bear to get it back up, but will improve everything as a result. Cloning servers, upgrading software, etc.

You can bet it won't happen twice too. Some of us haven't slept in awhile and don't particularly enjoy this kind of headache :-p

Thanks, I appreciate all your time and efforts.

Does this mean I have to start my 30-day wait time for the Trade column all over again...I should have been there by now.

Is there any place for donation$?

Upon further analysis, it seems multiple reasons caused by user error caused the shut down.

Disclaimer: this is a non scientific observation lack real proof. People just need to quit bitching, and quit bitching about people bitching... Er I'm done.

I own a $hit ton of firearms domains. I backordered ar-15.co when it came out in July 2011 and managed to secure it, among a lot of others.

I had it available, and (ar-15).(colorado) seemed to be the most appropriate domain I had for Colorado AR-15 Shooters ;) the domain registration came before the chicken, so there wasn't really any discussion or selection, it was just purposed.

For the record, arfcom is ar15.com.
I owned ar-15.com from 2006-October of 2011; I sold it to arfcom for quite a bit, though I'd rather have kept it I had to get things paid and take care of a lot of crap going on (and still going on).

I built and own 1911.COM which also died with this server failure, only it's data loss has been heavier. I put co-ar15 up first, now I'm working on recovering everything else. Ill still be working on this stuff for the next 72 hours at minimum.

I think we should go back to the old domain name!!

you never know he might need those beers after this! just saying!

i realize i was the second one to post the idea of owing foxtrot a beer (FAIL) it might be better to put the 1.99-4.99 towards the site.

In the end we owe foxtrot and the Mods and great deal of thanks for keeping this site going.

For the time being maybe i will escape under the radar without my TITLE being changed back for a couple of days and or after this post. muhahahaha
