If you're going to make them portable-
You can build walls- 4X8 out of 2X4 or 2X2. Use the orange perf stuff for the wall part. You can stand them up,as walls/vision barriers, or lay them down as low walls/obstacles. Use 1X2's screwed to these to make ports you have to shoot over/under/through. You can make doorways/halls, etc., by screwing these together. You'll also need to make some braces to hold them up, basicly triangles- screw to the walls, nail into the ground. For which you'll need to drill holes in the walls and pick up some big surveyor's spikes to secure them into the ground. Big rocks/sandbags/old tires work too.
Targets- you can buy IPSC targets and tape online, use USPSA scoring or make up your own.
All that's left is imagination and help setting up.

Rules- start with USPSA and modify as/if you need. Safety- it's the same everywhere- when your course of fire is set up make sure that any possible ange of fire is safe, make sure you're not setting the shooter up for an unsafe muzzle direction, etc.

I like 2x3s and pegboard for walls. I hate snow fence/orange mesh walls.

A Barricade or cooper wall is always handy.

Doors are cool, but can be heavy and a pain to set up.

I will try to remember to take some pics and post them here.

snow fnece bad because it allows visibility? snow fence with a layer of black plastic? (or just the plastic?)

Exactly. Makes it too easy to set up for a shot coming around a corner. And, as IDPA is a more defensive game than IPSC, they are just about worthless for IDPA.

I agree with hating the orange stuff, but he's planning to haul the stuff around, if I read his post correctly. You can staple black plastic on, but you know what happens to that in the wind..

Thanks guys! Good advice, I'm not up to speed on all the USPSA, IDPA, and IPSC rules and Regs, but I'll check into them. My goal is to have something ready by spring. (Tom Freeman) I would really appreciate any photos, as you know a picture is worth a thousand words. (Motorep) You seem to have done this before, Thanks for the info. I'll probably have more questions for you if you don't mind. (Merl) Black plastic is a great idea, light wieght and very portable. Thanks again fellas! Larry [usa] [usa] [usa]
