Saw this little girl last night, and well, it came home with me.

Have some Leupold glass ordered for it. I'll update with a range report when she's ready to rock!

I really liked the concept behind it and the storage bag it came with. Gonna make a great little "survival" set up.

Awesome congrats! I bought my 10/22 the day I turned 18, I estimate it at 3000 rounds. You'll love it.

Wow you just to yours a month ago or so too huh? Care to explain what happened, or isn't happening?

Damn, so you don't shoot it much huh? I'll bet mine has 3 times that through it.

I just threaded one for a can the other day. Neat little setup and the customer is quite happy with the setup.

Does anyone know if the barrels can be swapped out on these? Or switched over to a heavy barrel?
I'm currious if the barrel is attached to the forend besides the barrel band.

The bbl is for now proprietary, It locks in to the receiver using a cam type lug on the bbl to a female socket on the receiver. Nothing that cannot be fab'd up with milling machine and lathe. Don't expect the aftermarket bbl's to be under $150-200 once they hit the market. When they do, some beta testing will probably happen as not all head space might be the same on the take down 10/22's. Browse rimfirecentral and see what the rimfire version of AR nutz are saying.

Scored some glass today!

Leupold VX2 2-7x33

I had to mount the glass bit father back than I would have liked, so when I take the rifle apart it will still go in the carry bag. Not a major deal, but something to think about if you are in the market for one these.

Now, to go shoot the girl!! hopefully sometime this week.

Headed out to CGC with Ray1970 on this wet and chilly morning to zero my new 10/22 Takedown. After a quick 1 mag zeroing in with the Barska Plinker 4x scope at 25 yards, I took it out to 50 yards with very good groupings as well.

http://www.buckaroobonsai.com/1022a.jpg

That last target was at 25 yards using a front only sandbag on the bench. Not bad considering the wind was kicking up and I couldn't feel the tips of my fingers anymore.

After 100+ rounds downrange, I am quite pleased with it. Zero malfunctions using cheap Remington bulk ammo in the factory 10 round magazines.

I already have (2) 25 round Ruger BX-25 mags enroute, and reviewers say they work great with it as well. As mentioned, I also had to mount the scope rings way back to have it fit back in the bag, but with the generous eye relief of the Barska, it's really not a big deal.

I give it two thumbs way up. The case fits dandy in my bug out bag along with a box of 500+ rounds. I'll post photos of it all again soon, since the sever meltdown wiped out the original posting.

I can't wait for my next adventure out there, where I plan to all out assault the rimfire silhouette range with it!

:D

Looks like she ran awesome.

I am still trying to find some time to get some rounds down range with mine. Stupid work.

Yeah, the only thing I'm changing is the bolt release from the factory two hand operation one to an aftermarket one hander. As I also have a converted MAK AK-47 and a SCAR 16S, this is easily the least "tacticool" rifle in my collection. That being said, I have a feeling it's on it's way to becoming my range favorite! It's fun, accurate, and an $18 box of 525 rounds should last several trips. My fav is shooting steel targets, and trust me, they don't care if I'm shooting them with a $2500 gun or a $300 gun!

You ordering one in or modifying your stock one?

Tinelement

I'm heading to the range over lunch tomorrow if it kills me.

I think this is the longest I've owned a new firearm without pulling the trigger!

I'll post up a report in how it went.

Nah, ordered one off "gunandsurplus" on eBay for $10 shipped. Should have it tomorrow. Once I get that, I might be more adventurous with modding the stock part just for fun.

You know, it just so happens that my fee for removing a dog kennel from your backyard is a 10/22 take down... :D

If I can properly mod the factory bolt release, sure you can have it. We are talking about the bolt release, right?

Yeah we got it out there. Stupid fat dog got his head stuck, I fixed that gap, then dummy dug out a bit, and lifted the whole thing... gotta stake it with rebar. How did yours go?

I really do want one of these rifles. Need something that shoots cheap and faster than my lever 22. It would also be nice to link without having to dawn so much ear protection. My AR is stupid loud with its brake. B.O.B. fitment is definitely a plus.

Chewed up, but still standing. :)

Contact Randy at R&S. He mentioned yesterday that he had a new 10/22 Takedown in stock. He's got great prices, too.

So I went and ran mine today finally. No hiccups with cycling, felt good, but I couldn't get it sighted in! I was having major issues!

I made a post in optics/zeriong.

Wierd. I skipped the irons and went straight to the Barska 4x Scope. At 25 yards it took less than a 10 round magazine to zero, and held point of impact just fine when I took it out to 50 yards. I was sitting at a bench, with the handguard resting on a sandbag and shouldering the stock. I think I even held the handguard like I was shooting standing off-hand. Fastest zero ever for me. Maybe it was ray1970's spotting skills!

:)

Same thing! Had her close, I mean with in an inch or so, took her out to 25yrds and all hell broke loose. Got it back close, went to final tune and all hell broke loose again!

Im thinking I will pull the scope and sight in irons to eliminate a variable.

For you guys looking for one of these:
Gander said to call on Thursdays they just received and sold two. I bought the last of 'a few' at sportsmans warehouse today, I didn't think to ask if they we're getting any more. Good news is they are still arriving. Bad news, you still gotta hunt for one.

Cheers,
Maatt

If the adjustment nut is not set tight the barrel moves just a little, and accuracy goes to hell easy finger adjustable.

Took mine out to the range today and ran about 100 rounds thru my new BX-25 mags with zero issues. Also the eBay auto bolt release worked like a charm. Was able to hit a man sized gong out to about 160 yards, but not consistently. However, engaging multiple steel targets under 75 yards was child's play. Even tested taking it down and reassembling it without any noticeable loss of accuracy. Now I just need to find a speed loader for the BX-25's, as loading them is slow, and a PITA.

Waiting on my postage from Leupold to send the scope in

Buckaroobonsai

Yeah, the bipod should make for a nice, stable platform for longer distance shots. Now I'm thinking I need a more powerful scope! I attached it by simply screwing in a sling stud that I took off from another gun. That way the bipod easily detaches and can even be stored in the upper accessory pouch of the carry case!

To all that have gotten one of the 10-22 takedowns.
How many shoulder straps came with your carry bags that are part of the rifle set ? One ? Or two ?

I think Bert did a cut & thread and reorient the front sight on one for a customer. I don't know how short the cut was though. I am curious too about shortening the barrel to 16" on one.

Sorry boss!!!!

Had to copy!

Finally got the scope back from Leoupold. In the mean time got the big mag, blackhawk bipod, gg&g quick mount for bipod (thanks islander), and a magpul rail section. She still all breaks down into the bag.

Range day tomorrow to see if the scope works!! [ROFL1]
