Ok now we really have to get rid of BHO...

Soldier’s family reveals prisoner trade secretly discussed by U.S. and Taliban
The soldier was captured in June 2009 and is believed held by the Haqqani network, an insurgent group (Read: Terrorist organization) affiliated with the Taliban, probably somewhere in Pakistan.

Sgt. Bergdahl is the subject of a proposed prisoner swap in which the Obama administration would allow the transfer of five Taliban prisoners long held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to the AP.
The Obama administration had worked out a framework deal to send those prisoners to Qatar, where they would be under some form of loose house arrest or supervision, while Sgt. Bergdahl would be returned to the U.S. military.

"I'm pushing it hard," Bob Bergdahl said in the interview. "We started out by trying to encourage the Taliban to take care of our son. ... Now, we're worried that the government isn't concerned enough to put him on the (negotiating) table."

I'm sorry, but I thought it has long been the policy of this nation to NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS. I dunno about this young Sgt, but it was made plainly obvious to our unit (BDE level Platoon, not CO, not BN, but BDE!) that if you were captured the US Government does not negotiate and you should expect that you will not be released by some kind of "trade." Granted this does happen because the liberals pressure us to go against that, but really if I was in charge I would send these parents a letter saying "sorry about your son, but he knew very well what he was getting into when he signed that contract, no one forced him to join up, and it has long been the policy of this nation to not negotiate with terrorists."

The US has done prison exchanges in almost every war we have been involved in. Trade them up. Then we can kill the bastards we released once they get behind a gun again.

I bet if the Sgt. was a decent looking chick we would have already went in and taken care of things -- then put it all over the news.

The worst part is that this guy walked off his FOB in order to live a life in the mountains. He was "captured" by the Taliban when he stopped in a local village to beg for food and water.

It took him all of about 48 hours to turn on his fellow Soldiers and his country. He read a statement about how Soldiers were baby killers and such.

We had to lock-down (or attempt to) all of our border crossings into Pakistan when this event took place. I was more than pissed at this guy.

To make sure the 11 other soldiers capured with her & executed got to be buried back here in the US and not in the shallow hole 2 blocks from the hospital... but no one wants to remember that.

Yep...when I went into the military I was told if I was ever captured that the attitude would be "sucks being you".

I was told the same thing basically when I became a cop.

I vowed I'd never be taken hostage.

What's your source on this?

I've read different reports in the last 3 years as to how he was captured. CNN originally reported he was drunk off base and captured while wandering around, citing the original Taliban report. The AP reported he'd gone missing after falling behind during a patrol (citing Wikileaked documents). DoD has apparently made no formal statement of exactly how he was captured (at least that I could locate).

He's been promoted twice during his captivity.

Yes, all of those things were reported. He left a note with his buds and took off.

Once again the Obama administration all about appeasement. That's why the international community was all gung ho about having him as a president. Bush never put up with their bullshit, that's why they didn't like him
